95 legacy--147k ,,,,clean car with 2.2L cam or crank sensor would probably leave you stranded if they failed right? I don't like just throwing money out there for parts but would it make sense to change them now? $85.10 ea online at walker renton subaru on west cost Autzone has non oem for: cam--$57 crank--$24...! What to do.....?

oh...I have another interesting question......this is in regards to the T belt tensioner...the 4" cylindrical one (looks like a steel rod) On this tutorial someone made..... http://lovehorsepower.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48:1995-subaru-legacy-outback-timing-belt-and-water-pump-replacement&catid=10:subaru-legacy&Itemid=64 .........More than 1/2 way down it says the following about installing it: Move the tensioner all the way to the right side and just make the two bolts hand tight. It shows a pic of looking at the engine from the FRONT of the car Now I assume he means if you are in the drivers seat...push it right. This would lock the tensioner as close as possible to the pulley If you moved it to the right while looking from the front of the car.....you would be moving the tensioner farther from the pulley Looking for agreement here or correction about my logic (which has been known to be flawed now and then LOL)

clock spring?? is that a joke? funny thing is that this morning the light did not come on. It is a bit sporadic off topic a little.......my drivers seat belt....right side where it plugs into.....the rubber boot there that keeps the darn thing standing upright .....this boot slides down and the seat belt coupler dangles and is a pain to plug in There is a hole on one side of it.....I assume some kind of "plug" snaps in to keep that boot in place I bet no one has had that problem...... I gotta figure out what goes in there

thanks all...glad to realize I was not dreaming the recommendation to use the ultra grey about the oil pump o-ring....yeah I remember someone saying to dab a little to keep it in place during assy Bushwick---or others----so I should seal the back plate on the oil pump also huh? It's been so long I forgot --or I am just getting old I never heard about priming the oil pump...! Can I leave the plugs in while disconnecting injectors and spark/ (I'm lazy--I just installed the plugs lol) Believe it or not, the hard part of this T belt job will be finding timing belt covers---not the front but the back ones that bolt to the engine-----the stinking bolts were frozen and cracked the covers when loosening--destroyed And I assume no 2.5 covers would fit this 95 2.2L right

I thought (I know) that numerous years ago, I learned here on this forum to use ultra grey for sealing the back of the oil pump as well as putting a little on the o-ring on the oil pump...... All along I thought this was considered an anaerobic sealant..... Am I crazy? I've done it on more than one occasion and never had a problem.....now I am unsure...HELP!! haha I am doing a T belt job this week and would like to know the best sealer to use.... thanks

Hey guys Have not done a T belt job in a long time ...come the think of it I think I have only done 3 total My 95 2.2L legacy What is torque value for oil pump---will tighten rear screws and replace o-ring How about water pump torque? Also...I looked for ultra grey but only found ultra black....its the same right? Once T belt is on and adjusted....at what point do you guys try starting the engine to test that all is ok?? I don't want to finish job and find out I am off a tooth Do I need alternator belt on to start it for 30 seconds? thanks!!

Hey guys I have a suby I bought from an old friend -- 06 forester, 98,000 miles--- that I plan to keep for a long time Before buying it I looked under it quick with a flashlight to see if there was any HG issues I saw a little bit of oil but because of that huge stupid plastic shield covering everything ....I of course could not get a perfect view The guy is a friend and takes the car to the dealer so I assumed if there was any issues it would have been found Recently I took that shield off and besides some weeping oil....I think there was a little antifreeze also I will monitor the overflow tank closely but was wondering how well those tablets (or is it sold as a liquid?) work The last thing I want to think about is doing a HG job....getting too lazy I guess TIA
