next time i plan on going up i will try and get a hold of you. right now i have a different project i'm trying to finish before summer starts.

86 GL Wgn, 1.8 ltr carbed, D/R 5spd., about a 2" homemade suspension lift, welded diff., 235/75-15 SXT Mud Terrains on 6 lug Toyota rims and roofrack w/ lights. future plans: cb radio, 2nd battery, weber, snokel, full length roof rack, front bumper w/grill guard and rear bumper.

Ya, but that was way to much character. My car does have alot of character though, just in other places.

oh ya, i will be building one here real soon. just need to figure out exactly what i want to build.

i have both a welded diff in my beast and i put an lsd in my other wagon that i dd for awhile and it was at WCSS8. but i preferred the welded for what is considered major offroading in a subaru. the lsd is good for road (all kinds), some mud and minor trails beyond that i go with my beast with the welded. the beast is currently my dd with one axle out. i agree, a welded diff is the way to go if your wheelin your sooby.

Yep Scooby's wagon is lifted. yeah you guys had alot of fun. someday i be able to make. i'd probably have a better chance making an HP summer outing then a december one especially on saturdays.

Wagons do have hatchs to you known and no its not just for hatchs. subarutex, rooinater aka jared and austin all have wagons and i think that there was a couple of brats in the mix to, qman and zap had brats at one time but i also know they had hatchs too. just go look at their website and you will see more then hatchs. are the requirements for membership still the same? a summer campout sounds cool, hopefully your not restricting it to only old members and its open for new membership possiblities. :-\

not that i'm aware of. i have never replaced any bolts or nuts unless they we're strip or broke. your preferance but if your worried about any just use blue locktite but don't use any other color or it will be hell to remove if you ever have to. the only thing that you have to torque with the vehicle on the ground sitting on its tires are the control arm bushings, everything else can be torqued up in the air.

the snorkle was a safari snorkle, i do believe it was modified jeep cherokee snorkle. if you do a search i think you might come up with the post he did where it was mentioned.

a welded diff would definately help but i also think that some mud terrains would have been benefial too. not to mention lower tire pressures.

well thats up to you. i've never needed anything special to pull the axle back through the bearings.

well, i daily drive mine but when i go offroading with it i beat the piss out of it, usually when i'm with my buddies that have toyotas, jeeps and modified chevys. when i'm by myself or with others that can't go up trails that would do with thoughs other friends then i'm not as hardcore with it. ya, i do break things here or there but i fix them as soon asi need to.

my lifted 86 GL wgn is my DD, it drives just fine on the street, on the highways and especially offroad. it has no swaybars and no power steering and to be honest with you, it handles pretty well in the corners just a well as stock but think alittle better but no not like a sports car. i'm running 235/75-15 avon SXT M/T siped ( from Les Schwab). i use to have the Allied 6-5.5 white spoke wheels (the so called chevy wheels) chevy, nissan, toyota, etc. but have recently went with the nissan hardbody wheels, they tuck the tires under the fender wells a little more. no flares needed. anyway, yes i drive it to and from work everyday and everywhere i need to go, its the only car i have to drive. yes, power (taking off from a stop) suffers and so does milage but i love driving it because its fun and different.

Propoer torque for wheel bearings on 4 wheel drive models 80-93 loyales (legacy or above models) is 145-148 ft-lbs. front and rear. using a press for wheel bearing is way overkill for these models especially at 75-110 bucks for a press, plus you can't use a press if you was doing rear bearings. if it was a legacy or newer model where the hub presses on the bearing then yes especially if its seized on the bearings.

wider offset wheels doesn't change your camber, camber can only be changed by leghtening your lower control arms, by moving your strut top in towards the center of your car or by lowering or raising your car through suspension changes. as far as the camber issues of those hopped up hondas is probably due to the fact that they lowered their car and never had adjustable cam bushings, adjustable ball joints or adjustable suspension arms installed to correct their camber issues on their cars. i see it all the time they usually don't get it fixed until the 3+ degrees of negative camber eats the inside edge of their tires in a short period of time and then they have to buy new tires and try to get an alignment done. the drastic wheel changes will only make what you already have as far as camber look worse. but it will shorten the life of wheel bearings and ball joints. it also doesn't help the longevity of your tires either do to scrub radius changes.

i won't be doing much wheelin next weekend. i have to go and work on another car. i work on saturdays so sundays are my play days or get things done day. maybe we could hook up in a couple of weeks and go up in the mountains. we headed up to squaw mtn. last sunday and hit snow around 3,300 ft. and stopped us at about 3,500- 3,600 ft.

also if your going up to lolo pass you go alittle farther up the hwy and on the right is a road called still creek road there is some nice little trails to be found around that area, took my 84 up there last year when it was still in stock form and cruised around in the snow and mud ok.

you might try widcat mountain, if you have a map you can easily find your way there you turn off hwy 26 at shorty's corner just past sandy. then follow road/map. i might be going out later to squaw or goat mtn little farther south around estacada.

Its a lifted subaru hatch of the 80's.
