  1. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29151&highlight=knock+sensor+code
  2. i've heard of some folks using Redline gear oil for worn syncros..i also seem to remember somebody mentioning replacing one quart gear oil with one quart Risolone(sp?) to help out sticky syncros. im sure the thread could be found with a search.
  3. this has been my experience with my kumhos as well. they perform quite well when balanced, but require a balance at almost every rotation. i'm thinking about going back to BFG's here in a month when i get new tires. i'm also looking at Cooper all-seasons, as i've heard good things about them as well.
  4. mine makes a similar noise at startup when cold for about 30sec. or so. not QUITE as loud though. also makes a similar noise between 2500-3000rpm. it's been doing that since i bought it, but my mechanic said not to worry. i've put about 40000 mi on her since.
  5. i'm sorry. i cannot understand your response. honestly, just forget it. i was just trying to help you out. doesn't seem right that you cant mount the feet of your rack where you want to, and cant put them over the doors. but it's your rack and your issue, so i could honestly care less. i'm done wasting the forum's space trying to help.
  6. doesn't sound like a very good product if that is the case. still doesnt sound right though. think you might want to take another look at your installation
  7. you can put the feet wherever you want, they are essentially just clamps that hold the crossbars.
  8. neither..the feet of my Yakima clamp onto the rain gutters. bars are attached to the feet. Solid.
  9. post was discussing racks/installation of racks, not new tires/wheels. please try to stick to topic or start a new thread. thanks.
  10. thats ridiculous. rain gutter mount racks do not rest on the windows. they will not fall off if you open the door as you state.
  11. i think you can only transport bikes upright (both wheels on) with those mounts. i'd be hesitant to mount my bike in that way attached to a factory rack. if i HAD to use a factory rack i'd at least get a fork mount attachment. if cost is an issue, you can find tons of used yakima stuff on ebay and craigslist.
  12. i wouldn't go to a subaru dealer to buy yakima gear. no way. your rack's only as strong as it's base/mounting area, which is why some of us were steering OP towards the Yakima feet/bars. after that you can add whatever accessories you want.
  13. well, i don't think that the original poster was talking about purchasing a basket. just a rack (feet and bars) . in my opinion the yakima mounting system is far superior to the one you showed photos of a while back. not too spendy either, especially if you can find one on craigslist or the bay of E.
  14. a lot cheaper? what did you pay for your rack?
  15. yep, the 1A towers are quite good. check craigslist. never realized quite how thin my roof was until i took my loyale through an autowash for the first time and the dryer machine was going over the top of the car. though the roof was going to tear off.
  16. i have a yakima gutter mount system and its wicked strong. you could darn near lift the car off the ground by the cross bars. way stronger than anything drilled into the sheetmetal, thats for sure.
  17. i have to agree with the previous post. i'd take it to another dealer for a 2nd opinion. i also seem to remember a section of the forum over on Nasioc that is a discussion/review regarding dealers. perhaps you might find a better one through that forum.
  18. that's one thing i surely don't miss about living back in michigan. damn salt on the roads. saltier than Ronald's fries. killed way too many a good car, thats for sure.
  19. awww.. i'd bet there's pleanty of "real" people that search their couch for loose change. :-p
  20. that's hardly an accurate statement. for instance, the nokian all seasons i posted earlier would hardly come under the "suck at everything " heading.
  21. if you've got the cash and want some real all seasons, you can't do much better than these http://www.nokiantires.com/en/tire_wr.aspx?season=summer
  22. whats the space like behind the rear seats? much room?
  23. if you'll be on pavement most of the time, then all seasons should be fine for the occasional storm, especially if the plows are out on time. i have some kumho all seasons that have worked suprisingly well in fresh snow. check tirerack.com for some good driver reviews on all seasons/snow tires.
