Outback struts on a Legacy? YES!!! Thanks.
njdrsubaru replied to SuBrat84's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOk ok i did a swap myself http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=62911 all u have to do to get the strut to line up with the hub is to have someone push the hub down with their feet while you are down there you are trying to align the strut and put the bolt in. Fairly easy when there is 2 people working on it, i did my swap in 3 hrs tops, i think it was less than that but on well, make sure you mark the bolts up top before removing the old strut (front) so when u put the OB struts in, you can try to line up the bolts to the original location and therefore not needing an alignment. also in the front be carefull with the CV axle, DO NOT pull on it too hard or it will pop out of the diferential, it happened to me. large Pry bars are a very helpfull tool on this swap and PB blaster too. good luck and let us know how it goes Cheers Neo

Dammit! i got a water leak!
njdrsubaru replied to njdrsubaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXok I found our problem!!! for most of you that had your windshield replaced or have worked around the wiper linkages.... when they replaced my windshield they had to get the cowl cover out of the way to remove and install the windshield, so.... the clips at the ends that holds the cowl in place must be resealed once removed or you'll have water leaking right into the HVAC air intake, so i sealed that hole and the other ones under the plastic cover and it worked!! Also make sure to remove your FAN behind the glove box and stick your hand in there and pull the leaves and crap that is in the a/c condenser, i had alot of crap in there and it was smelly, yuk!! then put everything back together and enjoy a leak free car. :-p

Dammit! i got a water leak!
ok ok sorry for cursing, but i cant find the origin of the leak, i've checked the sunroof drains, the HVAC drain, the firewall for wetness and the ruber grommets around the doors and all the cables in and out of the car. SO I HAVE WET CARPETS ON DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDE!!!!!!!!!! back in July i had my windshield replaced because of a branch that fell. i checked everywehere for a leak on the windshield seal and nothing. Does anyone have an Idea where that water is coming from? its the second time its happened and everytime right after a rain storm. Plllllleeeaassseeeee HELP! i hate wet carpet smell cheers Neo

new toy
njdrsubaru replied to njdrsubaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHi john Yes you have to run the supplied harness through the firewall for the sensor that goes by the grile. all you need to do is to pop the ruber plug right above the brake pedal on the firewall and that will be right under the brake booster, so just shove the wire throught there and you'll see it in the engine compartment then pull it carefully untill enought is needed to route and reach the center part of the wood latch. More info is here. this guy did it with his WRX and it works the same for us, just the unit placement for the legacies is right uner the radio. http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-1203.html BTW it is not a major mod. to do, if you can swap radios you can do this. :-p good luck and let me know how it goes, i'll post pics of the installed harness soon cheers Neo

new toy
njdrsubaru replied to njdrsubaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXits not hard at all do install it comes with the harness to connect between the radio and the car, and that harness is a "plug and play", the only "difficult part" is the cable for the temp sensor in front of the car by the grill, which wasnt hard for me but it may be for some people

Outbacktification Process STATUS: In progress, now with pics
njdrsubaru replied to njdrsubaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXwell talking about tires, i went to get my tires balanced today, also i asked them to check if any alignment needed, so they got the car on the aligment ramp and sensor on the wheels, and guess what.... NO ALIGNMENT needed. yay!! well i swaped the struts i marked the 3 bolts up top with a sharpie so when i put it back together i put exactly where it was and i guess it worked.
