  1. That's pretty much it. It's the extreme danger of that one hill. There are some gnarly obsticales on the trail up, ( a buddy twisted his driveshaft in half!! on his 79 Bronco on one) but they are all optional, and can be driven around. I did it in a bone stock 78 Bronco. (still, a solid axle V/8 TRUCK) Other than that hill, the trail is really no worse that that hill you were climbing in the OBW that day up Bunce School. Steep and VERY rocky in places, but basically do-able. (Disclaimer....It has been 4-5 years since Ive done Redcone, and trails change.....)
  2. How about: "Pursuit Special on Metho, very toey" Or "How's the donk?" Or "she's the town bike" I love Aussieisms. (I recall explaining american biscuts & gravy once. "Why would you put gravy on a biscut!?" ) (OT Hijack, sorry.)
  3. The darker area in front of the Rover is where it goes nearly vertical. If you look closely, you can see the deep whoop-de-do's in this area. And I have yet to see any pics that do it justice.
  4. And, Shawn, I'd include a rollcage to that list.....zzz
  5. July and August are your best bets. (though you can incounter snow even then, the summit is above timberline.)
  6. I think Mom's gonna be in town that weekend, or I'd be there! "Don't wanna do a rally"?! Hell, I'd rally the Impala, just for giggles. I used to hit the rural gravel roads in Iowa for 4 wheel driftin fun in Eyesore all the time. (It was the only thing to do...)
  7. Australia is really anal about modifications. Ironically, the car most people think of when you say Australia; Mad Max's Interceptor, is Hideously illegal there. Engine (blower) protruding from hood, Larger than stock tires, Zoomie exhaust, Body modifications, engine modifications.... All big no-nos.
  8. Awesome meet. I'm big time impressed with the turnout. (It was especially handy having another lifted hatch to compare lifts. Now I know why my camber is so bad! oops! ) And, the hatch made it back just fine BTW.
  9. I'm Here She's still a bit busted, but I see no reason why I wouldn't be there in the hatch. (minus the swampers till the axles are fixed...)
  10. Sigh I still owe Shawn $$ (haven't forgotten, man) and still have 2 count 'em, 2 broken axles, bad ball joints (constantly driving on Lake Michigan-like roads isn't helping) and other asst'd broken bits, I'm down for a while.... There in spirit.
  11. Sorry, all I just totally spaced the whole thing. (I think I was thinking Sunday, 'cause of all the Red Rocks meets.) I feel really bad, and am sorry I missed those I haven't met yet. I'll see you at the next meet, though. Tom
  12. Unless it kills you. at least 2 confirmed dead from E-Coli spinich. Feel better, Eric!
  13. I feel kinda like i've lost a friend. And there's a big empty hole in my (heart) driveway. Eyesore was sold on Friday. It was time for her to go, as I couldn't keep her up, and needed the money, but it's a sad day for me. The car that started the Subaru love affair for me, is gone. I told the new owner about the board, and hopefully, he'll make an appearance here. Maybe make it to a show occasionally. She'll be missed.
  14. I was referring to the rubber line, not the metal one. Think this would still cause permanant damage? I'll try dis-assembling it, but want to think worst case scenario, because I'm pressed for time. (and can't spend any $$$$)
  15. Well, the one at Action must have made someone unhappy. And it looks like they pusished her with a forklift. They destroyed that little wagon. Looks like maybe they tossed it off the roof too. There's not much left worth snatching.
  16. OK, So Eyesore is effectively "sold". (I have a deposit) But the right front caliper is sticking really badly. Buyer knows this, but: How do I make her driveable? If I take it all apart and crank the piston back in, think it'll quit sticking for a bit? Or, I was thinking of taking the whole thing off and pinching the brake line closed... Would this work, be safe-ish to operate, cause serious harm to the brake line and/or the rest of the braking system? Or Does anyone have any suggestions? The guy is coming to pick it up Fri. I need to try and get it mobile for him. Help Please!!
  17. Snapped the clutch cable. Plus: Bad LF Axle, bad LF ball joint, bad driveshaft u-joints, and one snapped exhaust bolt. No $$. No, no lift. she's an old 80 Fairmont......
  18. I should be able to make it. However, the hatch is down, currently, and I hope to have Eyesore sold, So I may be in a Ford... (It's a wicked Ford, though..... )
  19. Gotta love those old Mopar colors. I like the Sub-Lime idea. (or Sassy Grass. It's less limey, more grass green, but still eye-searing. ) Or possibly Statutory Grape or Plum Crazy. 'Course a nice Hemi Orange with black is good too. If you don't like "peachy keen" jokes, you're not going to like Pink jokes much either.
  20. iF ANYONE IS INTERESTED: oops, caps lock. There is the 1st annual Englewood days car show Sat Sept. 9th, 9AM. A buddy's shop is sponsoring and said theres a spot if some of us subie folks want to attend. Just putting it out there. (dash plaques for the first 100 cars, too.)
  21. Eyesore made it home fine. No issues. Good meet, I was surprised everyone left for the cruise so early, but was fun anyway. Eyesore got a good response, even though she did her customary radiator fart once I arrived. (the fan isn't coming on, so she doesn't like pulling the hill to red rocks) you know you want it...... $500 to a board member! Got my eye on something else....need to sell her soon now!
  22. We hold one every few months or so. The past couple have been in conjunction with AWD Pirates, and I think that's been a good thing. I'm sure we can expect another one sometime this year.
  23. Bump Also, I'm gone June 30 - July 12 so it can't be then.
