  1. Pull n Save is the location of the "found" regulator. (that white wagon?) sadly the ign. cyl. has no key, or I'd grab that too. Get paid on Wed, need to hit the yard. .........My mom always kinda liked eyesore, nudge nudge, wink wink....... Yes, need to empty the inbox. I should give Shawn some $ for the board next time I see him too.
  2. Well, she needs a drivers window regulator (have one located) The ignition cylinder is shot, so it's hotwired to a toggle switch, she has an exhaust leak, and a mystery vaccum leak...Maybe the carb gasket. Haven't really dug into it too deeply, basically an unwillingness to idle below 1000rpm, runs great otherwise. symptoms manifested at time of carb replacement, about 1500 miles ago. (650 of which was the long but perfectly uneventful drive here from Iowa she just made.) NEW, within the last 1500-5000 miles: Carb, RF Axle, RF balljoint, rear axle u-joints, Brakes (Pads, shoes, both rotors, RF caliper) Tires (Firestone winterfires) Cap, Rotor, Plugs, Points, Condenser, H-4 headlight conversion w/ Sylvania Silverstar bulbs, and a couple of other things I can't think of right now. I would like to see her go to someone who will love her.........
  3. Thanks, all. I'm terribly excited to see this come together. Yes, it is being built for wheelin, but it's also my winter, all-road vehicle. and as basically easy as pulling the axle may be, it's damn inconvienient the morning after an unexpected snowstorm, to do it in the driveway in work clothes. I'll sacrafice some traction for general ease. (at least for now.) As for Eyesore, I want way more than she's worth, but I'm thinking $600-$800 is fair given the things that have been done and the things that need to be done. I haven't even posted it in the marketplace, (or the newspaper/auto trader) yet, because I plan to fix a couple of things first.
  4. 4 spd D/R. She's being built for wheelin not highway As for the LSD, I don't have one yet, so I guess it'll be whatever I can get my hands on.
  5. Almost back on the net again, should be operational tomorrow! So in celebration; my "Official" announcement of a new baby in the family. She's an '84 GL Hatch 4spd. Dark Forrest Green and the obligatory tan interior. Very minimal rust, 140k and some big plans. (Should I tell? everyone here likes to be so secretive about their upcoming projects.....) Seing as it's nothing radical, : 4" lift, 14" Chev 6 lugs & Swampers, LSD, fresh 1800 built for low end grunt, and of course, the "Eyesore" treatment; big honkin hood scoop, lots of lights, and guns...(somewhere haven't decided on a location yet.) Paint also as yet to be determined. And yes, Eyesore is For Sale. Though, to be honest if no one buys it I won't be burdened by keeping her. Just strapped for cash with the new project. Wish me luck!!!
  6. On again briefly.... DrKrazy, I appreciate it, but it's just my ISP that's currently absent. Soon as I get some cashflow again (After getting the new hatch legal,) I'll be getting back online. Thanks for the offer though!
  7. Woo hoo, momentary access to a 'puter! Tim, I'm living in denver now...but I do get around. And, yes Eyesore is for sale, but I pick up my new 84 hatch next Saturday: "Eyesore 2". Largely inspired by seeing Tim's hatch at MW2. The meet sure was fun, looking foreward to the next one.
  8. Gonna be on the road tomorrow, (I'm in Iowa for the weekend) Do you know how late they are typically open? And I won't get paid till the 8th anyway.... I'll head over when I get paid, hopefully it'll still be there. If you find yourself there again, I'd pay you a for puullin them. I just know how quickly PNS moves cars. Really appreciate the heads up on it!
  9. Glad you'll be able to make it! The mud (should we find any) is nothing like Iowa. Colorado gave theirs a bottom. Imagine that.
  10. Still alive all... Computer has been down recently, and I only just got to see this thread. I'll be there in Eyesore. No mud roads this time, OK, Shawn? And just to jump on the hijacking theme, I really need a drivers door window crank mechanism & an ignition cylinder & a left taillight for a '78 wagon...If anybody has or sees these items, please grab 'em, and I'll buy them from you at the meet. Sounds like another good subie meet turnout, can't wait.
  11. Yeah, $50 core. Upon closer inspection, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. Just totally used up. (and the water passage looked horrible. I guess I need to do a coolant flush!) Would have liked to have kept it & tried to rebuild it, but really need every penny right now. Also got some new NGK's that are going in tomorrow. The store computer recommended .032 gap, that sound right? The FSM says .028 to .035 so I'll go with .032 unless one of you gurus tells me otherwise. BTW, The car has got POWER now! (well, as much as an EA-71 can have power.) Throttle response is up 100%. Amazing. Seems to want to idle a little high, though. (about 1400rpm's) Idle screw is as low as it will go. I figure it just needs to get run in a little? Other than that, Huge improvement.
  12. O'reilley's is awesome. Said the Carb would take 3-5 business days, and It came in this morning! Thanks for the help, Subiemech & Mick. I think the gods of moving are smiling on me. I hit the road for Denver Monday.
  13. Jeeze, sorry man I totally forgot. Mom did give me the message. I've just been so busy getting ready for the move and all. Where'd you find the kit? it's for the EA-71's carb, right? I have already gone ahead and had my local parts store order a reman Carb. $186. Probably a good idea anyway, just not sure if it will get here in time.
  14. Well, the Hitachi on Eyesore finally went south. (leaking gas internally.) It's going to be at least 3 days to get a rebuild kit, and a new carb is a special order part. I have to drive it To Denver Monday. Soooooo, I have the '84 Brat... Would the Carb from it (EA-81) work on Eyesore? (EA-71) Or Mick, do you perhaps have a rebuild kit or a spare EA-71 Carb? Someone please help? Gotta get this thing roadworthy in 5 days!
  15. Now, suicide doors could be kinda cool....
  16. Personally, I like the smaller tires on it. Makes it look lifted more than it is.
  17. you got some good shots! Glad someone got pics of Olive Rd.
  18. Don't bother with the boosters, they will actually hurt your performance. All the boosters really do is let a car designed to burn high octane run on lower octane temporairily. (read the fine print on a bottle) You're better off running a decent brand of gas and tuning the car well.
  19. Both Mick & Tim's problems stemmed from trying to pull other people out. Mick was ultimately able to get out even with his damage, and Tim's clutch was a total loss. Otherwise, they were moving fairly well. Vickeroo got out just fine.
  20. I have been very happy with Castrol Super Clean. (purple bottle) cuts grease well, but doesn't seem to really touch underhood decals even. Have sprayed it liberally over all engine parts and seen no ill effects on hoses/wires/paint/aforementioned decals.
  21. I wasn't around during those guys' attempts, so I didn't know what kind of reimbursement was agreed on. (wich is not to say that I'm not thankful to them, or unwilling to donate) I also intend to get Mike's (the guy on the corner) address, and send them a thank you & some flowers or something. He was very helpful also, in driving us around, allowing us to leave our rides at his place, helping Shawn's parents load the brat, etc. I also intend to throw for road repair. It may take me a while to contribute much, though. I'm totally broke now, and mom just threw $375 for the repairs to my car. (which had to be done right away, 'cause I'm driving it to Denver in part 1 of my move back there in 2 weeks.) So If I don't pitch in right away, please know that I fully intend to!
  22. Thanks, Stupidroo. There are several more pics in my album now of the car in camo, If you want a closer look. My first ever attempt at Camo. I'm happy with it.
  23. Go anywhere: Mick's Brat. Best Old Gen: Gotta vote for my own. (hey, it was the only "true" old gen) (gen-1) Crowd Fave: I wrote Mick's Brat, so I'll stick with that, but I was real torn between it and Ruzilla.
  24. After 2 hours of hosing, I have most of the mud off. (haven't gotten to the interior.) Had to remove it from the driveway with a shovel. Fox and crew did a good job of tying the front end together with steel cable. The ball joint is toast, the axle may be salvagable, but the boots are thrashed, and some pieces are missing (clip & stuff.) Hopefully the parts will be easy to get & my local shop won't charge tooo much to fix it. (I'm supposed to drive it to Denver weekend after next!) She also sustained some body damage to the front bumper & R/F fender, but I'm not at all concerned about that. Adds carichter(sp). Sounds like I got off lucky compared to some folks. Sorry to hear about your car Matt, at least mine is an old beast.
  25. I'm calming down now.... Was never under the assumption that Fox & crew stole the car, I know they wouldn't do THAT!! I was just disturbed that It wasn't left where/how I had asked, and that 8 hous later I had herd nothing about where it might be or what was going on. I talked very nicely to a very nice officer, explained the situation, explained that the car was not stolen, and I was not looking to press any charges or anything like that, just to see if they could locate and secure it for me (small town cops are so much nicer to deal with than city ones) Basically, I asked them to go by the antique store (it's last know sighting) to see if it was still there, and to make sure it was secure. I gave them no names of anyone to try and go after or anything. I left it because I'm 2 hours away and was under the impression that it would be left (as tim & shawns were) at the farmers for me to retrieve once unstuck. I was just stressed anyway, and finding out it was "lost" only made me worse. (I'm normally a pretty mellow guy, really.) At any rate, it's home now. I'll take a look in the daylight and assess the damage. And I do appreciate The guys' efforts. I know it was all with the best intentions. Sorry if I freaked out here on the board, everybody.
