Long time Volvo owner thinking of an Outback? Can they take the miles like a Volvo?
calebz replied to benzomatic's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy 760 Turbo sedan has over 220k on it. None of my soobs have gone that far yet.. Soobs are a lot easier to work on though.

help me with my B.O.V.
I have a stock WRX BOV here. Doesn't look to be any adjustment.. Doesn't even look like it comes apart.. I know some aftermarket BOVs have shim adjustments on them.. But that doesn't appear to be the case with the stock one.

91 legacy 1.8
1.8? SPFI? that would be a Loyale more than likely. Don't think we ever got the legacy in a 1.8 in the US. www.ccrengines.com try there for recon heads

Recommendation?
as in ....Enumscratch? Haven't heard that in a while. Good job passing on the Loyale in favor of a Legacy.. As much as I love EA82 turbos, The legacy is a waaayyy better wifemobile. Welcome to the board

Legacy vs. Camry
calebz replied to viceversa's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIn addition to my Subarus, I have a 94 Camry XLE.. Same as the 95-96 years you are considering. Mine however is a V6. The camry is harder to work on than a Subaru, But I have spent a whole lot less time working on that than I have my Mother in Laws 97 Outback. Hasn't cost any more than a Subaru for Parts either. Oh.. and with 200hp, while its not an STi, its hardly boring

help me with my B.O.V.
oops, misread. Trouble at cruise.. are you sure its the BOV>? Can you hear it venting? My guess is you are either just barely getting into positive manifold pressure, then dropping to vacuum, causing it to vent.. or its just plain defective.

help me with my B.O.V.
NO, it isn't a problem at all at idle. think about it. Why is it a problem? - Because of metered air getting blown off. Under what circumstances would that occur?.. When being blown off and directly thereafter.

help me with my B.O.V.
Where is your BOV venting to?

Will this engine bolt right up???
calebz replied to coloradosubarules's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt will bolt up. You may have to swap some parts like the intake manifold (possible harness differences) The japanese often put accessories and such in different places on thir own cars..lol You may need to do a little swapping of brackets or sensors..thats normal for a lot of japanese crate type motors. Its all bolt on though. Oh.. and no, you don't need to pull the tranny and motor all as one. the motor will come out easier by itself.

Overpriced Parts? $500+ for a heater core
I called last summer for an AC compressor for my 87 Wagon.. ~$580 before labor. Got one on eBay for $25:D

Twe Warning! *tuning update*
Larger/longer header will not make the turbo spool earlier. Initial exhaust gas velocity will be slowed due to the greater volume available to it.

DFW Oct. 30th Meet (Pre-Halloween)
yup.. only a few. You may have noticed that the majority of the activity here revolves around old school soobs.. and the fact is, there are almost no old school soobs in TX There are lots and lots of WRX/STi people.. but they have their own place

4-Speed Auto Availability
The 4 EAT is an electronically controlled Auto transmission. It could be swapped in place of your 3AT, but you would also need to swap in the TCU and all associated wiring. IIRC, my 3AT turbowagon sat at just above 4k at 70mph.. perfectly acceptable RPM range for a decently maintianed EA82.

Flywheel with no marks on it
Ok. just thought maybe that was a possibility given that the spyder manifld XTs didn't have a visible access hole.. And had the timing marks on the crank pulley.

Whining noise?
calebz replied to laichzeit's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXCheck very closely. When under heavy acceleration, I often hear a whining noise as well.. Mine tends to come from the woman in the passenger seat though.

Flywheel with no marks on it
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the XT flywheel has no marks.... right?

RX ralley car, engine bay, gutting
Being from the north, I find it funny watching all the guys from the northern states telling you to ditch the AC.. 2 years ago I would have said the same thing... 105 degrees at 90% humidity last summer taught me a good lesson about that... AC is your friend:D

Pedal assemblies are the Devil!!!
^^ What he said, with one added observation. That stupid spring on the clutch pedal will cause you nothing but heartache down the road.. take it off

Blow off Valve
Nope. No factory BOV. truth be told, a BOV is not really necessary at stock boost. There is a mechanism called a dash pot that stops the throttle plate from slamming shut, giving the compressed air somewhere to go for that split second between shifts. If running higher boost then stock, a recirculating type valve will be healthier for your motor than an atmospheric BOV. Venting to the atmosphere can confuse your computer and cause backfiring throught the throttle body.

No such thing as 'not fixable' Its meant to perform a certain way. If its not performing that way, then something is wrong. If something is wrong, it can be fixed.
