Suby mechs in Bellingham WA
BlueSoob replied to hop's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXTo avoid Dewey Griffin- I go to Harmony Motorworks. The sad thing is, they are about the same price. (For the last service I had checked into. - When I checked into going to Seattle, it became even more expensive.) But Harmony does good work. In the Bellingham Herald they even advertise work on Subarus. (Dewey -734-8700 Harmony -671-2420)

Just got a 2004 Forester - Wondering about upgrades
BlueSoob replied to tcervo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI can see you're excited... here are my thoughts... *I know this is a stupid insert but I got the rubber floor mats and the armrest extention. I only got em cuz i got em from a wrecked forester and they were cheaper. The Black floormats look SOOO much better than the gray.. and the armrest i thought might be a waste of money.. but on long trips i can really tell a difference in comfort.

How unsafe is it for a Brat to tow another Brat?
Ya know.. We're seriously considering heading to portland in the next week here... if I can grab ahold of a cheap GL down there... (Since the Exploder exploded) ... and we were gonna take the truck to haul parts.. but if there are like 2-3 of us going, we could always use the F150 if you're willing to toss a few $ into the gas tank... its really on the way anyhow.... Good bonding time... Keep me posted and I'll keep ya updated

who's got cheap roof racks?
if thats what you're after then thats great I do think that I have a set of towers to fit the GL series (I used on my 88- with hopes of one day getting another GL) laying downstairs somewhere... you could score some bars from caleb and if i can find the towers, i'll send em to ya cheap.

is an outback big enough to fit 3 carseats?
BlueSoob replied to kpoon's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy friend can fit 3 in the back of her Forester. The Outback will be bigger.. I'm wondering if the 05 will have as much room as the previous style. The 05 Outback to me, felt more like my 93 Legacy (HAHA that I bought in Ogden) than the 00's outbacks. I'll have to go with the others here.. don't buy the big fluffy wide seats. Congratulations And thank you for not adding another minivan to the Salt Lake Valley.

hill holder
or else its really loose. Having a hill holder was the ONLY way I was talked into getting a 5spd Forester. For some reason, Subaru put them back in the 03 Forester. But when I tested out the new 05 Outback/Legacy. they didn't have them in anymore. The hill holder was nice for the first 20,000, I used it more as a training device. Its not real helpful to me anymore. I loosened it up ALOT after they replaced my clutch under warrenty. I hated sitting even level and having that thing engage. Plus, I have learned the beauty of a hand brake. Its too bad that in most trucks there isn't a hand brake... my feet aren't big enough to cover all the pedals. If you are asking about the car rolling forward... it will do that anyhow.. i've found it only works when facing uphill... Check and see... you may be out of adjustment or something -could- be snapped... I guess it depends on what you're using the car for really.......

2003 Forester Brake change

2003 Forester Brake change
BlueSoob replied to phoenix_one's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOk.. so I'm a girl.. and I don't always know the names of the parts... but: I just changed my front brake pads on the 03 Forester X (WHOOHOOO my first time making it to 60k with a single set of brake pads!) I was able to push the fluid back into the resevoir just fine... my ABS still worked this morning... so far so good... I'm not a mechanic... so don't get me in trouble.... Make sure you have the right pads!!!! (Napa and Shucks gave me the wrong ones) There were some changes made "mid-year" on the 03's... I guess if it was manufactured before April or May(??) it has different pads- but from what I've heard.. they aren't the same that they used on the 02's. Screwy... I know... (The production date is on the inside bottom of your door by the driver seat) Get Ceramic too!!! you need them (plus they are also recommended by subaru) Other than that.. just a bolt.. nut on the calliper and clip the pads out and put em in... replace the wheel.. TADA... no more grinding/squeeking! Ok.. so I made it sound too simple..... The techies on here could help if ya need it...

Forester Off-Roader - Hopes are Crushed
Recently when I swapped out tires on my 03 Forester, I noticed how wimpy and puny the bars and suspension is under him. UGH! I was crushed... I had distant hopes of making him a little more beefy with a bit of a lift... but when I got a good look at it... and put it into perspective... I'm not sure if it is worth it.. I'm disappointed.... It looks like a Honda CRV set up
