  2. Danbob are you still plannin on comin??? and whats up for food situation?
  3. Gurantee its a no- I had a 93 legacy (same style as your 94-) and a lady with a 95 wanted it... tried it... tooo tight for it... sorry about that... I would check into an alternative like Lesbaru did
  4. I'm going but hopefullly riding... please please please.. oh and are we packin lunches/snacks/liquids?
  5. Will there be an open seat in someone's car? I'm good at pushing and rocking cars out...
  6. I'm past the grieving.. its ok.. I can accept jokes.. Our family named the 86 wagon (white) the jizz monkey.. obviously for its color... because it could climb... (do you really want details here??) it spewed liquid from the engine.. and perhaps it had to do a little with male activity similar with a stick shift?
  7. first is Italian... second is finnish..... i started learning finnish once.. when i was offered a job teaching there... things didn't work out.
  8. Well, he never did get that Brat that he wanted.. never had time to carve up the GL either... *sniff* he's gone... went quite suddenly.. Another good GM (Cadillac) mechanic down... He leaves behind good memories, a close family, and 3 garages full of tools and a farm full of old cars.
  9. How many miles on your Forester.... I am starting to wonder about these issues with Foresters... I have extremely high mileage on mine... just wondered if I should be aware of something...
  10. Depends on which car ends up goin.. or if both of us go.. if we bring the 85 we'll prolly try for trail.. if the 03 comes.. it will go until it comes to a hiking size trail and tree sqeezin... theres hardly enough clearance.. thats the worst part.
  11. I think one or two of us from the north here are planning on heading down... now if only I knew where exactly... or knew what day to plan on....
  12. No promises guys. I'm developing an illness of some kind and I don't think I want to prolong it. I don't think you would like me to share it either. Plus if I go, I think that I may be missing in action here. Someone was talking something about headlights and a rack here.. thought he could use a little help. :santa:
  13. I gave up my Legacy for the Forester. It reminds me (the size and dimensions) of my beloved GL. It is so much more manuverable than my Legacy ever was. When I looked at the OBs, I couldn't stand how high the doors came up. It was too confining. On the other hand, I had become used to the length of my Legacy and now I have a hard time fitting things in the trunk. Hehee. I think the Foresters look better than the OBs. As long as you're not trying to fit 3 adults in the backseat then you're ok. If it helps any- I bought an 03 Forester 5spd.. a very zippy car.. even without the turbo ... I get an average of 28 mpg. I don't hear of many newer outbacks achieving that.
  14. I chose to forget about the factory fog lamps being useful at all. I'm installing a push bar (as soon as I decide which one- what style) and strapping some aftermarket lamps to it. Dash away the hopes
  15. ooooooo the two of us.... heh heh... a night with the boys... oh and that Austin... what I always dreamed of. Such a hottie!
  16. I'm pretty sure the ref. to the "Joe" they are talking about is Joe S. at Carter Subaru in Shoreline, WA. He has a website. http://www.cars101.com Joe has always been a help to myself and others. Good guy.
  17. not really... the rust protection only covers rust- through spots up to 5000 miles I think. I'll have to check it out.. Its not that it matters anymore... its out of warrenty. I'll be passing 40,000 mi. this coming month.
  18. Yah. I didnt do it just because though. I ran from WA to WY to see my family for Thanksgiving. I came back up from Southern OR up I-5 because I had to pick something up. By the way, from Deming, WA to Evanston, WY its only 936 miles via I-90, I-84, I-80. Its a helluva lot longer straight across and then up. (Thank you John for lettin me hang out for a few in Eugene!)
  19. If you can't get ahold of Glenn in SLC, you can always call the WY number of mine you have. I won't be there but someone there could probably find a way to help ya out. There are spare GL parts laying around if you loose something (86 and 87). They are 80 miles east of SLC... I doubt you'll be that far east but I thought I would offer just in case.
  20. Awe heck. Whats another 1000 miles on the Forester really eh? When would you head down Austin? Is the wife comin up Adam?
  21. Ahhh ... home with the family. I had a nice chat with my grandpa yesterday. He has my brother's old 86 GL sitting in front of his house.. it has a bad engine among numerous other things wrong with it. Well, being the mechanic that my grandpa used to be, he swears he can fix it. But my grandpa doesn't want a wagon, he wants a little "Subaru Truck" like his friends have. A couple of his buddies have Brats and he wants to make the GL into a truck... I told him that I wanted to do the same thing... He was pretty excited but I just roll my eyes at the thought of him trying to work on that jizz monkey. I think its better off being parted out. oh well.. i'd better get going... need to pull parts... my dad tells me that one of the neighbors has thrown out some rims and a roll bar and misc other parts... wonder what they look like... so now to the point... is it worth the trouble of encouraging my 90 yr old grandpa on his project or just keep an eye out for the brat? I hesitate to give him a brat since he can only drive 30 mph even on the hwy.. he sees things and i'm afraid he will wreck it... thoughts?
  22. Damn. If my other half wanted to give me one of his then I would be ok with that. I basically got him the 85 auto wagon (the new addition to the family) and now he has adopted it as his own. The gray 85 man. was supposed to be his. *grumble* But hmm.. I would side with most here.. she probably doesn't want an "old" "kick around" car.
  23. I think I've posted my bragging on my forester mileage.. I dont know HOW you kids drive or where you drive... I get 28-32 mpg in my 2003 Forester. Lowest I've seen was 24 on a trip to Wyoming. Try putting at least 89 octane in it... keep it consistent though.. I also noticed that my mileage went up by about 2 mpg when I started using Synthetic Oil at oil changes. Don't use the AC as much and you don't have to floor it every time you move from a stop. Oh and get a 5 spd. The automatic is horrible for gas mileage. But keep in mind, most of my driving is done around sea level to 3000 ft. and at speeds from 20-55 mph. I get about 27 in town. I also installed a hamster cage just behind my engine- I put one of the exercise wheels right next to the belts and ran tunnel tubes throughout the engine compartment. When Hampton and Harry get frisky... you'd better fasten your seat belt and hang on tight!
