&&& noboby knows how to come up with the $$$$$$ to fix one after it quits! Check with Sube dealer for all recommended maintenance on that transmission. -
EASY to change. Look under drivers side, about directly under fuel filler. There is a small panel held by 3-10mm bolts. Remove that & it hangs down, showing filter & fuel pump. Clamp off 2 hoses to filter, replace, remove clamps. rady to go. I do not understand the " 9V. 12V coil description. I have never seen anything but a regular 12v coil & no resistor.Put in a GOOD can of carb cleaner in tank, afterwards.

Picture of a standard , more expensive, 12v coil on this site below. A standard coil here, is about $18. If you cannot find one, send your address [ city, country, & code number, & I will check shipping costs to you. http://amos.shop.com/amos/cc/main/ccn_search/st/12%20volt%20coil/sy/productsx/ccsyn/260/prd/8149197/ccsid/316436705-16598/ga/1/adtg/01260536

Does sound like the coil. After a coil warms up, they can start causing problems ,if weak. Surely, you can find an aftermarket coil, in Norway, that is not expensive. Most 12V coils are nearly alike. I just put a used Justy coil on a generator, til I was able to get a new one. The new, generic $18 coil looked exactly like the Justy coil.If you can't find one, & a U.S. generic coil will work, I could send one to you.

There was not another auto tranny for the Justy. Replace with 5 spd or sell. Costs $$$$ to rebuild if you can find the parts. I have seen brushes on E Bay before. Also, post a " Wanted" ad on this Justy forum== http://subarujusty.proboards20.com/

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6467&item=4512979980&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW Parts are worth much more than that! Has cargo bed seats, too!
-
Yes. No damage to engine. Should replace belt every 80k miles. Check tensioner very well & replace, too, if necessary.
-
Since you said tranny, went " out" I am only assuming you mean it is an automatic. Scarce & hard to find in a junkyard, now, & who nows what condition it is in?? Parts & labor to rebuild an automatic are $$$$$$. Would be a good time to swap out to a 5speed ,but it is a good bit of work. I have an extra 5spd tranny that needs repair but don't think it would be much to fix.[ stuck in reverse.] The 5 spds are selling for $400-500 ,used ,around here.I, also have a good running & driving 1988 5 spd that I will sell the whole car for $650.Engine, tranny, clutch, etc are all fine! Located in Florida.

Should I trust a salvage transmission?
Esteban32696 replied to Damicoaustin's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If the used transmission has a 12 month/UNLIMITED mileage warraty, with NO DEDUCTIBLE costs to you, I would go for it. You have a USED trans in it now, they will not give you a new or rebuilt one. -
92 justy questions...

Yes, motor mounts are dealer or junkyard items. ASK dealer for a discount, & many will comply. I have OEM part numbers for you if needed. The top mount," dogbone" is the most often needed. It is; Rod rump roast't/ptg stopper OEM # 7410-40280, all years are the same. Some Justy parts are outrageous, but then the next part you need is cheap.Muffler is over $300, but you can easily adapt a $20 stock one from Autozone, etc. -
92 justy questions...
Esteban32696 replied to 92bertmobile's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
NO, . The sensor on carb engines is located just beneath the radiator hose on right of engine. Just below thermostat housing. Look for the one with TWO wires. Sometimes they get gunky with oil. Clean inside connector, etc.,,, disconnect battery for a few minutes,,, then reconnect. If engine light comes back on, then change it & disconnect batter again while doing it.[ clears codes] Many discount auto parts stores have those or can order. -
Alternator bearings
Esteban32696 replied to subarubrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would just get it rebuilt.http://www.mralternator.com & tell him " The Mailman" sent you.UPS it to him & he quickly gets it back to you. If bearings are worn out, other parts are too, or are nearly worn out. Bearings can be next to impossible, sometimes, to get off. -

Ok. Drivers side kick panel below hood release, look for 2 connector plug-ins. With switch off, plug them together. Turn switch to ON, only, & start counting the flashes on the serv. engine lite on dash. flash,,flash= 2. flash,, flash----pause--- flash,, flash,, flash =23, etc.Post back with what you come up with. -
I am looking at a '92 Legacy AWD wagon with a 2.2. Valve train was very noisy but had good oil pressure. Owner had mechanic to replace oil pump, timing belt, seals, etc. STILL noisy. Clatter, not knocking. What might be the maximum cost,[ if only in the valve train], to have a shop repair this? I have a chance to buy this car at a reasonable price.

85 Wagon wont go over 30MPH

Could also be the catalytic convertor. -
Should I buy this '92 Legacy AWD wagon?[ non turbo]5 spd, 183,000 miles.Clean car in & out. Details; Car is at a local shop & owner has not paid the $550 service bill. It was making a lot of valve train clatter & owner told mechanic to change timing belt, oil pump, seals, etc. Car did have good oil pressure before, but oil was very dirty. He changed all items & it is still noisy. It has only run about 15 minutes since work was done.Owner may abandon car & I can probably pick it up for the repair bill. All else, appearance-wise seems to be good. What is your opinion of this car for about $600???? Thanks!

I don't really like the " rebuilt" alternators you can buy at aut parts stores. I have seen the inside of them & little has been done. I rather take it off & take it to an alternator shop for a TRUE rebuild. I have used www.mralternator.com, in S.C. before, & was very pleased. They rebuild quickly & thoroughly,& send it back by UPS. Tell them, " The Mailman" sent you!

89 Justy any help will help
Esteban32696 replied to pullerbear's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have an '88, same motor. Not interference. Probably just broke the timing belt. While replacing, may look at replacing tensioner, etc., too. Mine broke at 205,000 miles. I can make copies of pages of a manual for replacement if you need info.
