  1. So how much did Mountain Tech take ya for on the motor? I know they can be a bit on the pricey side. Very nice employees though:) I did this same swap on my 1982 hatch a little of a year ago. If you want to stop by and take a look at anything let me know. (I know it's 2 different generation of body styles, but if it help let me know.) Good luck and so far you're off to a great start.
  2. That looks like my BRAT a few days ago. I've now got primer and coating on it. I'm dropping it off at the paint shop today. Then I can start the rebuild of the motor. Then by the time the paint is finished I should be able to drop the motor in and start working on the trim. (full restoration in 2 months). I feel your pain on the body filler though.
  3. Let's see some more.
  4. Check this thread out too: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=95663
  5. So I only needed a couple of parts, but I had to buy all this stuff in order to get the stuff I wanted. Just a heads up that I'm going to be selling all this Gen 1 stuff. Here is a link to some photos of the part: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=104134&page=2 Let me know what you want and I'll do my best to set stuff aside for you as I go through and get photos of everything.
  6. Yes, he's very reasonable. I'll try and dig up his name and number for you. Don't hate, appreciate. Wait till the paint job is finished. I hope to have this thing finished by the end of the month.
  7. ya, let me do a little research here to find someone who can do it and get some prices. Then you can post a group buy thing.
  8. I'm wondering if I made a template could I find someone who could make them. Maybe we can get a bunch made and do some sort of group buy thing.
  9. Does anyone know were I can find some new gen 1 BRAT tail light gaskets?
  10. I'll take it. Let me know how much with shipping to Portland, Oregon 97266 Also how you want to get paid. -earl
  11. I don't yet. I was going to see if a gen 2 would fit on it. If not the hunt continues.
  12. So I've almost got the interior completely finished. I still need a few small things & a stereo with speakers. Next is to work on the body and paint. BEFORE: AFTER: Next time you see it, it should have the body and paint finished. After that comes the motor.
  13. I've started on the BRAT. It's the tear down phase. I'm going to start and finish the interior first. I've got everything out and the small amounts of rust fixed. No holes in the floor board! I drop the BRAT off at the upholstery shop on Monday to get the carpet, back panel and kick panels done. This BRAT will look and smell like new on the inside. I should have it all put together by next weekend. I can't afford to do the seats right now so I'll just go with some good tan sheep skin covers. I'll post some before and after photos.
  14. Okay so I finally got the ride height the way I want. I had to pull the rear torsion bars and rotated them to the desired level, then put them back in. I also installed new brake lines, and started to bleed the brakes. I only got the back finished 'cause I think the EA81 caliper hose bolt doesn't work with the WRX brakes. I'll have to check it out tomorrow. After the brakes are finished it's time for the AWD swap. Right now it's RWD (fun)
  15. I had to go to my brother in Law's wedding that weekend. I was super mad I'll make it next year for sure. I don't think I could of had the hatch ready anyway. I still need to do the AWD swap. Looks like it was fun.
  16. Thanks for the advice.
  17. I might have to do that once I really start tearing into the BRAT. I'll let you know. Thanks a ton, earl
  18. PM me your address so I can get your decals in the mail. Let me know if you have anymore sweet GEN 1 BRAT stuff you want to sell or trade. Like I said I going to put this thing back to very good stock form. This is a one year only BRAT and deserves to look it's best. Thanks, earl
  19. Heck yes! Brown is right, and you've got yourself a deal. Decals for good one?
  20. The interior is okay. The dash doesn't have any cracks, but the seats have some small tears in them and it's missing some stuff. So I'm looking for the center console part where the stereo is suppose to go. PM me is any one has one.
  21. I just picked this up for $400 last night. I have plans to fix her up real good. It runs and drives. I'm very excided to have the only year gen 1 BRAT that came with the EA81 running gear. I'll post photos of the progress along the way. Here are some as it sits now.
  22. Thanks, I already have a great vendor on shirts.
  23. My EA81 control arms. I drilled them out to fit the ball joints. Then stuffed them with urethane bushings. (note: I did this in a 1982 Hatch)
  24. This is why I scrapped all of my XT6 stuff up front and just swapped in impreza WRX junk. Now I have a garage full of XT6 stuff. I think all I ended up using was the rear hubs and that's it. I'm going to through it all up for sale soon. I hope someone wants it.
  25. They bolt right up. I just had to file out the holes a little.
