  1. I hope I have my Hatch ready for the first race.
  2. I was messing around today and came up with this design for your decals. Feel free to use it as is or as a jump off point for something else. My gift to you free of charge for coming up with the greatest Gen 1 lift of all time!!!!
  3. I'll pick mine up from you after new years. Great work bill! You should send out some decals with the kits so we can represent BOSS lift kits. -earl
  4. I put WRX brakes on my hatch and I am still using the stock master cylinder. I've had no problems at all. I swapped out all the bleeder screws to speed bleeders then replaced the brake hoses (the old ones were cracked), then flushed the system, and it all worked great.
  5. Great Job Bill. I can't wait to get this baby installed on my BRAT:banana:. I also wanted to get together with you (when you have some time ) to see about getting some off-road bumpers made for my GEN 1 BRAT. I can shoot you a payment on the 20th (paypal cool?) or I can give you some cash when I pick up the kit.
  6. That depends on what you consider a true Porsche. Most people consider a true Porsche as a rear mounted air cooled car. Most of the 911 guys point there noses in the air when you say you have a 944. It's true that the 924 is mostly made up of Audi parts, but on just about every part on my 951 I found Volkswagen & Audi logos. They are all very intertwined. The 924 is the true black sheep of the Porsche family though. It's kind of like the Justy of the Porsche world. There was only one good 924 and that was the 924 carrara gt turbo. Very rare and very cool car. The progression of this platform of Porsche went from 924 to 944 to 968. So even though the 944 doesn't share a lot of the parts form the 924 it's still based on the same platform. I my opion the best car all around car out of the 3 is the 944 (I like the turbo). There were a few versions of the 944 though. The base 944 (a n/a 2.5L I4 8v, The later models got a 2.7L engine 1988 & 1989 I think), The 944S (a n/a 2.5L I4 16v), The 944 Turbo (a turbo 2.5L I4 8v), The 944 Turbo S (a larger turbo 2.5L I4 8v) & The 944 S2 (a n/a 3.0L I4 16v). Also the 1985.5 and newer models got an updated interior. Well that's enough useless information for now.
  7. This is one of the lamest post ever :-\
  8. I know a ton about 944's I've owned 3 and currently own a 951 (944 Turbo). The turbo's are the best bang for the buck as far as fast goes. The only main problem is the water pump. Make sure it's had an updated water pump installed. Other then that all of my 944's have been very solid. The only time I ever HAD to replace anything was the water pump. You can find tons of parts for them. There are about a dozen after market companies that make every last nut and bolt for the car and you can also find the parts at the dealer too. Shop around and use ebay/craigslist. Here it is before and after I did the paint and body work.
  9. Here are some photos of the heater control valve out of my 1981 BRAT. It doesn't match up to the 1st generation subaru heater control valve. The one I got only has 2 hose fittings, not 4 like this one. Can anyone tell me what style this is or if it's only made for this one year? thanks, earl
  10. New bumper installed. Oh, is there anything nicer then a new chrome bumper:slobber:
  11. New rear bumper just got here tonight. I can't wait to install it.
  12. oooooo, that is a tempting offer:rolleyes:. I'd really hate to drive all that way with no heat though.
  13. Okay, so fixing the heater isn't as easy as just replacing the heater control valve like I thought. I do need to replace it, but it isn't the same unit as the ones found in gen 1 subarus. It has four prongs coming off of it, not 2. Also getting it out without removing the entire heating unit is impossible:-\. So I'm going to have to remove the entire heating unit and I might as well replace the heater core while I'm in there. Anyone know if the heater control valve is unique to the 1981 BRAT or did they put in a gen 2 style valve?
  14. I've got a blue headliner that I'm going to be selling soon.
  15. I would prefer that it go to someone who would care for it, and I would really love for it to go to someone on the board here. I'm just hoping to make my money back at this point though.
  16. I'm sure there is a way to install a lsd in the front part of the diff on an EJ transmission, right? Do I have to use a vlsd or can I use a clutch pack type? Also how the heck do you do it? Thanks in advance the Subaru gods that answer this one.
  17. I too put a 5 lug conversion on my 82 hatch (same set-up at your brumby/brat). check the link yo: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=98829&page=9
  18. A little of both. I couldn't find original Subaru seat belts for the back so I found some new ones for a sand rail and printed out some Subaru decals to stick on the unlatch tab. I completely disassemble the jump seat stuff and used a plastic bonding trim paint on all the plastic and rubber parts and hammer finish Rustoleum on all of the metal parts (after completely removing all the paint). That's about the jist of how I did just about everything on this project. Tons & Tons of labor and a few bucks too. Soon it will be for sale on ebay though. I've desided that I have some more projects to finish up and not enough space to keep this one. Also it's hard for me to hang on to a car unless it's a project:)
  19. Update: Got the back end just about finished. I'm just waiting on my new rear bumper.
  20. here's the video of the hatch with tracks: http://www.sunvideos.net/videos.aspx/video~subaru_with_snow_tracks/Subaru_With_Snow_Tracks/Cool_videos/
