  1. Hi I just got 2 new monroe (71789) and (71790) front struts for my 86 wagon for only $40.00 plus shipping. And they came in three days!! $53.19 total for 2!!! Their the exact right kind, complete with adjustable hight!!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7984169419 (different struts pictured) He might have more in stock
  2. Cool Beans! thanks very much for the input!. After riding around for a month in my new-old $175 subaru , I have decided the next new car I get wil indeed be a subaru because SUBARU'S ROCK!! (especialy if they have bad struts)
  3. LandBruser??? Subacruiser??? LandRuver??? Kangaru??:-p Yes I'm a dork
  4. OH,,, and you guys with the 14" rims check out these mudders http://www.4atvtires.com/tireSearch.php
  5. Hi! Im looking for the largest 13 tire one can get.. this is the largest I have found yet 195/70 R13 http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp?width=195%2F&ratio=70&diameter=13&startIndex=0&search=true&pagelen=20&pagenum=1&pagemark=1&x=74&y=13&RunFlat=All any ideas??? I know at least some of you guys have explored this;)
  6. I honestly think the radiators are designed not to be as efficiant as they should be,,,i ' mean it seems like car manufactures design things to clog break or crack after so many hours,, who needs cars that 3 or 400,000 miles anyway??? i mean if cars did last that long without relacing parts the new car market would really be hurting worse. funny thing, the (Advance Auto) auto parts store, recomended thermastat is 180 deg. however a Subaru machanic told be that he recomended the 160 degree termastat to increase the engine life..and proper transmission cooling could double the life of a tranny. Anyway,, just somethoughts.
  7. OH,,, and did I mention,, the clock actualy works!!:-p $175 LCD clock, good deal?
  8. Humm,,, Sounds messy.,,, I just might do that! One of the disadvantages to living on the coast is ,sand, sand , sand ,sand ! I dispise having to do any work under the car even with a mat down, that darn sand some how finds its way into everything. so a tranny dissasembly is one of those things where you must have a shop around to work in around here.( down here we like to pack a little sand in with the bearing grease to give it that extra silica lubrication) :-p Thanks again to everyone for there helpful and experianced sugestions! Im also still tring to find a way of sidesteping the insainly high price for struts for my little wagon. my 175 dollar deal is turing into a 500 dollor car. well, at least the seats are in really good shape;)
  9. long "self ratchting" wrench???? you know,,, the real expensive wrenches
  10. Well, I tried the band break adjustment, as directed in the book, with no effect So,,, here is the current solution,,,, A. start car let it warm up for 10 minutes.. or B. start off in 2nd and shift to "D" about 1/4 mile down the road. something deep down inside is saying "sticking tranny valve" O well, learning to live with it.
  11. DA.= Dual Action,,, It rotates and at the same time it orbits in an eliptical pattern , thus reducing circular swirl marks.
  12. Hi Tin! I have a question about your 92 wagon.. I have been looking for struts for my 86 wagon ,,, but their so costly . I knowticed you are using RX struts. can I fit those under my Subee without modification? thanks , Dave
  13. Macco wanted $650.00 to paint my Subee wagon reguardless of how much prep I did! Shoot! I only paid 175 for the whole car! ( that price was for the basic paint job, WITHOUT THE DOOR WELLS AND UNDER THE HOOD!!!!),(said they would have to sand the hood and top to bare metel,,, that was a lie!,, I watched them paint right over another guys old paint!) I'm real disapointed with the local Macco here!
  14. here's a nice complete drive train , with a fair body with some rust but it has a factory sun roof ... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=37246
  15. I have a friend In AUSS. and she said her car wouldn't pass inspection due to rust.. She said that the condition of the car body was a safety issue there. I thought Wow ,, over here cars can be rust particals holding hands, as long as the signels work and the tires are good and the exaust doesnt leak,,, it can have rust holes and dents all over it:-p,, well in North Carolina anyway....
  16. Thanks for that sugestion! I just stumbled accross that adjustment. "band break adjustment" in a chiltons service manual. I am going to try that tomarrow. Will let you know what happens. Thanks:)
  17. OK, Heres the deal.... I own a 85/86 GL wagon,, well the tranny went KAPLUWEE!, so I am buying a 87 GL-10. I was hoping to use my old GL wagon for parts. However some have said that the the two are not the same , Can you all point out some of the differeances you know of? thank you. " I have a dream,,, a dream of the perfect Subaru,, with a lift kit , white spoked wheels, cargo rack, KC daylighters, and a sand beige paint color":brow:
  18. The trans oil is nice and Red I just changed it. The gear case oil is kinda pink and clear. ( possible seal leak?) Thanks for the sugestions.
  19. Hi Im looking for the member who has the white 85 i think GL wagon with the lift kit. and has the following Photos on this site,, wich i can no longer locate. 5410sand_dunes.jpg and 5410quarry.jpg
  20. Do a hand painted Camo job :-p I'm joking of course. It looks awesome, I'm jealous. Maybe a little larger tires and maybe a 1 or 2 inch lift. Maybe a cargo rack on top with KC daylighters on the rack and on the front bumper with the little Brat stile brushguard... Yeah, that would be cool Any suggestions on mods. let me hear em. i got it CHEAP. so i am not afraid to put a little $$$ into it.
  21. Hi , I am very intrested in buying your Subee, I have a 86 wagon with the brown interior. If you still want to sale please email Dave at Peacockdesigns2004@yahoo.com Thanks
  22. OK,,, considering the wagon is "Poop brown" wich is good because it hides the rust,,,,, and the considering the milage,,, and the fact it need struts,,. Should I sale it? or would it be best to bbuy a new tranny? is should it be manual or auto??? thanks.
  23. Does it make a noise if you turn the steering sharp ? I'm no expert, but if so I would say CV joint. Bearings are prety much a constant roar. try this,,, put the EMbrake on,,, jack up the front,,,put it in "N" ,,,, crouch down by the front wheels, put both knees on each side of the wheel sidewalls,,to stablize it,, then put one hand at the top of the wheel and one at the bottom,, try to rock the wheel,,,, if you notice a lot of movement,, or if you hear a clicking sound at the hub ,, then yes it is likely bearings, Hope that helps. PS amound the many other possiblitys
  24. My Mazda did the same thing, and it was the "transmission modulator valve" wich can be aquired at the dealer and possibly an auto store. Cost wil be anywhere from 30 to 50 dollars for the part. the valve usally screws into the side of the tranny and has a vacume line attached to it. If you can find it on your subbe, inpect the vacume lines running to it for cracks or looseness. hope that helps.
