4x4moose replied to romcat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i was thinking of going with a weber since i hate f-ing with all the vacum lines when you have to find a leak. -
tell your friend to try using a shopvac with a smaller peice of hose attached some how, duck tape or something. i thought i was a stupid when i forgot to plug the maf back in and couldn't find out why my car wouldn't run.

since you all are on the topic, i was wonder if i could do the oppisite. put a carbed+exhaust in a turbo car. since i blew the head gaskets on the wagon and i want carbed wagon so i can put a lift on so its easyer to fix on the trail and a lot less stuff that can go wrong. like cold water on a really hot turbo. but i don't really want to swap wiring harness. -
i'm kind of interested in the motor, even tho this is the wrong place to talk about buying something. is it carb or spfi
-
wouldn't that be very hard on the u-joints and other parts of the drive train?
-
i was thinkig of make a adpter. that is kind of like one that you get when you upgrade to a bigger disk on other cars. but i don't need to make it higher.
-
yeah power poles and treessss are always to good to watch out for. i was thinking of take an ebrake assmble off a junker, front calipers to. find a way to mount the calipers on the rear. this is on my wagon.
-
i dont' knwo how hard this would be but i kind of want to maybe have two ebrakes one front and one rear that way i can slide the car both ways. i'm i crazy for thinking about doin this? is there any thing i should be carefully about do this?

What is the "tick of death?"
4x4moose replied to SubieDude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i don't mean to jack his post. but i have a question for you about the ticking, how long after you start you suby does it tick for. my 86 will tick for like ten minutes, i know my oil pump is leaking. -
idiot lights come on half way?
4x4moose replied to hatchsub's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
it wasn't a short it was a relay, and the relay caused both my coolingfans to come on and i think at high speed if they are dual speed fans. -

PICS of my GL10 OFFROAD!
4x4moose replied to Steveman09's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
like the top mount job. i'm going to be kicking my self in the rump roast for not going to wcss7, should have headed over there friday night when i bought the new suby. -
yeah i think it is wheel balance, i was going to go have the tires looked tomorrow. it may just be a flat spot cause its been sitting for a little while, and it wasn't very warm here today so the tires didn't get really any heat in them.

Where to find an EA82T rebuild kit
4x4moose replied to diluded000's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah this is going to be my first time and its way to much for me to spend at the moment. but i would like to do it to the second one around when ever it happens. i don't know how bad the pistons are the odometer says like 146k but the person that i bought it from said it was broken before they got it. so i'm gusseing that there is 200k give or take maybe 10k miles. -

ramegines does ea82t stuff. i emailed him and asked. i was looking at the masterkit rebuild kit, well i think it was call the master, with forged pistons, bearings and all the other stuff you need. but it was like $1200, and ther was something about haveing to send you cams in to be reground and other stuff needed to be done to the heads. but if he can get 140hp out of an n/a ea81, i think a 150 out of an ea82t if possible with little effort, but i could be wrong. -
yeah i wanted to port and polish it, but i didn't know about the three angle valve job, what is that suppose to do? i have seen my friend do a regrind at his dads machine shope before.

i think i'm goign to go to a place called ram engines, spend like $1200 is and get forged pistons, regruond cam and all that other good stuff. theses guys can get 140hp out of an ea81 n/a. i don't know how hard that is to believe, but the site seems to make it seem like most people think its next to inpossible. i did find this site on here some where else i think, someone was talking about pistons
