  1. September would be rad. I too need time to finish odds and ends and would need the time to plan the trip.
  2. Ya Ya, I'm in too! Any chance of doing some wheelin? I'm not well versed on the Front Range but would love to get out and rally!
  3. Adam I to missed the original post but am way interested in gen2 flared offroad fenders. There are a few guys in town that would be interested as well.
  4. I just chased a clunck around in a friends '85 hatch. It started as a bad CV so I replace both sides, still there. repacked both wheel bearings, still there. swapped out the rotors, still there. freaked out and cured the gods, still there. Turns out one of the remanned axles was bad, I should have checked it first but it just didn't act like a bad CV. So my advice is start with the simple stuff, or the most obvious first. If you need , I've got a set of nonvented rotors off of my '81 wgn that have good splines and still some meat on them, just let me know.
  5. Hey John, put me down for a set of 5, 14's if there are any. the fifth dosen't have to match, 4 and a full size spare. Thanks
  6. Where in CO are you? I'm on the western slope, right off I 70 and I've got both single round and single square set up's, hell I'll cut the front of my '81 DL wagon off if you wan't to go that far.
  7. try this: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=62260#post62260 I wrote this for an ea82, but the the procedure is basicly the same. You won't need the aluminum plates for the side burns because the ea81's are differnet where they meet the exaust adaptor. What I do is cut the pipe about 3" off of the block and pinch it shut and thread it back in ot the adaptor. You'll see what I mean when you get under there. Also you won't need vac to the heat selector in a ea81. PCV from the back of the intake to the drivers side valve cover, vac to the master cylinder, vac from the ported vac port (the left port on the front of the carb as seen from the front) to the dist., and manifold vac to the choke. I think thats about it. I'll try and get a digi cam and snap some picks of my Brat that may help. Oh ya the Black Sabbath and Old Style are a absolute must, but that goes without saying
  8. I was thinking the first week of August, for the same reason. That would give me time to get my Brat up and running.
  9. Or we could go up to Hubbard Cave, which is shorter, not as gnarly, and has to added bonus of caving at the end of the trail. It's an out and back to the edge of Glenwood Canyon. I think it's about 12 miles total. Hubbard Cave is one of the largest dry caves in the state, and has some awsome rooms inside.
  10. It's a bit of a drive, but here in Glenwood there are some cool trails and a big park on the river. we could all meet up in the park, check out the rides, and head up Transfer Trail, over Coffee Pot Road, and down into Dotsero. maybe even get some of the Utah boy's out for the weekend.
  11. I put a clutch in a friends Hatch last Friday. It took 3.5 hrs to do by my self, start to finish, and it was the first clutch I'd ever done. I did pull the engine rather than drop the tranny, but other than that I followed your basic Haynse manual procedure and it came out fine. Just read and reread the steps, and remember to wear CLEAN latex gloves when you put the clutch disk in.
  12. Welcome to the board, nice to see another Coloradan! I think there are about 5 of us now
  13. OK i'm putting a clutch in a friends '85 GL hatch tomorrow. We'll be pulling the engine rather than dropping the tranny. So while it's out I'm doing oil pump gasket and seal, oil pressure unit, pan gasket, T stat, CV's axles, along with the clutch and all bearings and seals in the bell housing. I'll also do a rad flush and ATF engine flush, and break bleed. So my question is, what else should we do while we're in there? Thanks for any suggestions.
  14. I've run it both ways in the past but after burning up my dash in a snowstorm in the middle of BFE I learned that it's a good thing to run inline fuses. I have toggle and push button ignition on all of my Soobs and they have all been rewired with an inline fuse.
  15. Do a search, there has been many posts on this subject. Theres a walk through out there some where that I posted a few months ago.
  16. No kiddin! I just moved to New Castle this month. Both the wife and I work in Glenwood. Do you Ski, broard or bike? I've been a board/bike tech in the valley for almost 10 years now. I might have worked on your gear!
  17. If the starter is on the drivers side of the bellhousing than it will bolt to the 1.8 tranny. If the starter is in the middle of the bellhousing than it will only fit the 1.6. Being an '86 it should be a wide body bellhousing.
  18. I'm with SubaruBrat, although I prefer something with more punch, say .45 ACP
  19. Maybe we should start a vote to see just how many of us would like to see OT return. I for one feel that the board lost a large portion of what made it great too be a member when OT was taken away. Just my two cents
  20. The yard should have the title on file. if, for some reason, they don't, you can Bond For Title. Ask at the county clercks office, they should have a packet of info on how to do it.
  21. So I did a search, but the info I got was unclear. Here's my question..... will the EA71 w/widebody bell housing out of an '84 std, bolt up to an EA82 5spd D/R tranny?
  22. I actually started working on a pair of half doors about a month ago. I've got the cut down size I want and am now working on an internal brace to stiffen them up. When they're done I should be able to use the bottom door panel and armrest. We'll see how it turns out.
  23. The vac controled heat selector is on the EA82 engine. the EA81 dosn't use manifold vac to open and close the baffles in the heater core. Subiemech is right about the EGR, I make cover plates for the intake manifold and block it off all together, but I've run them both with and with out. PCV will need to be conected to the drivers side valve cover but thats easy.
