  1. I ran 205/70/14's on my hatch with no lift, no cutting and no rubbing.
  2. you can dump it all. all you need is vac boost to the master cylinder, vac advance to the dist. vac to the choke and one vac line to the carb. Do a search for emmisions removal, there's a write up that I did some where that walks you through it.
  3. Too bad, I have a EA81 I'd would have sold you. Oh well.
  4. Man thats too bad! Thanks for the offer to hook us all up, and for the time and energy you put in. For that you deserve many beers
  5. While your at it I would replace the voltage reg. it should be external on a '81 and may be the cause of both the dummy lights and the start but not run.
  6. I pull the tie rod end from the steering knuckle and pop the ball joint out of the bottom of the knuckle so the knuckel is only connected to the strut. then hit the end of the axle with and impact hammer (after the nut and cone washer are removed). most of the axles have a tapered hole in the end that fits the pionted chisel tool perfectly.
  7. So what are the names of your Soobs? I've got The Dump '81 DL wgn The Baruzer '83 Brat project and Rust Pig '85 Brat
  8. I'm sorry for your loss. I just put one of mine down a few months ago, so I know how you feel. Did it have a name?
  9. Rad, I was just thinking on this same subject last night on my way home from work. Good info!
  10. I'd offer him $200 and not pay more than $300. Also, do the haggeling over many beers and use all the Jedi mind tricks you know to make him see things your way
  11. Wow! lots of awsome info! Thanks! Now I can start another project I don't have the time or money to finish
  12. Has anyone used a stock ac comp. for onboard air? It looks like a few members where toying with the idea, just wondering if anyone had one up and running and if so is there a walk through?
  13. Right on! gald to hear you got the info, I think the guy at Burt Toyo is Mike Shaw, I talked to him in the sping about widebody bellhousings. I think his dad owned an after market Subaru shop. You might also try Super roopair in Boulder, those guys are a wealth of info.
  14. Hey John, try giving Burt Subaru there in Denver a call. There's a gal by the name of Terry (I think that was her name) that helped me out with my dual carb questions. She's worked for Subaru for 20 years or something and has alot of good info.
  15. When you save all your beer money for KC lights, pushbar, pugs, lift kit, ect.
  16. The justy GL, one of none ever made. Which makes it very rare indeed!
  17. the throttle cable absolutly sucks to remove! it's high on the firewall so there is no room to work and you have to pinch the top and bottom tabs of this stupid little snap link and have someone pull it out from the engine compartment. It's really no fun. I've got an old one in the garage I'll give you, for a donation to the beer fund (or the board)+ shipping but it's out of my hatch that had 266k on it. I don't know if I could get it to you any faster then pep boys can get you a new one, but the offer stands. I'm in zip code 81650 if you want to check shipping rates.
  18. try this http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7575&highlight=emissions
  19. I had the same problem with my '81 wgn. It ended up being the voltage regulator, I fried a new one on install and took it back, said it didn't work out of the box and got a new one. the second one fixed the problem. But I seem to remember a fuel pump relay the wiring diagram lists as being under the pass. seat. It had nothing to do with the problems I was having but you may check it, if only to rule it out.
  20. I got my new plug wires on Friday and they are DOPE! However, I won't put them on until I get the new coil. Now for the real point of this post, Heep70 rules! He hooked abunch of us up with 8mm plug wires for a unbelivable price and in my case sent them befor I sent him the $. Greg, if you ever need positive feedback I've got your back!
