 Man I needed that! -
Dido. Also Utah only sells 3.2 beer so remember to stock up BEFOR you hit the state line!
-
In addition to most of the stuff on the list I also carry a water pump, T stat, flares and a loaded .45(it's better to have it and not need it, right).

I may have to head out Friday night after work but it sounds good to me.

Agreed, it should be a weekend of total chaos. I'll be out of town for a wedding April 20th thru the 26th, but befor or after is cool with me.
-
I was thinking the end of April or start of May.

Ya, actually you can have the whole exhaust off of that new hatch I got if you want it. I'm doing some custom exhaust and don't need it. Hey do you know what head wreckers are? I think the real name is hefinrefer or something like that. Grab me a sixpack if you can get it.

Moab! It's been talked about, it's been done by some, now let's make it happen! Lets take over Moab in the spring and show all the jeepsters and yotas whats what! If we plan far enough in advance we can all make plans for the trip down, finish the work on all of our rides and spend a kick *** weekend drinking Soobs and rallying beer!

If the EA82 pipe won't work for some reason, I've got an EA81 Y pipe with a good cat he can have. It's been taking up space in my garage for too many years. Oh and no more talk, lets just plan on taking over Moab in the spring!

Looks like a fun trip! S.T., the spare looks pimp on top!

I had the left rear wheel fly off my '84 hatch at about 40 on a back road two years ago. The wheel bounced/rolled a few hundred yards ahead of me, but I was lucky enough to be in the dirt on the side of the road when it happened so there was little or no damage to the drum. Didn't have a jack, never found the lugs, and had to hitch about 25 miles home. Now I carry a 1/2" torque wrench whenever I rally and hit the lugs befor hitting the trail. Those bouncing wheels can be deadly, glad to hear you made it home and know one was hurt.

Hey, No touchy my tranny!

I never made it up, in fact I hung up on my frame rails because the Brats not lifted and had to be pushed off backwards. Fuel starve was the main problem on the first try though. Problem is, if I rally with too much fuel in the cell, it tends to weep out of the vents when I highside or hit the step stuff. It's just a matter of finding the right fuel level for rallying. Oh and thanks for the link S.T.

Drunk minds Do think alike! So I decided to use a fuel cell because I wanted my spare mounted in the bed and I had to drop the tank inorder to do it, so while the tank was out, I saw how much lighter the back end was. It also made cense to place the weight closer to the cab and more centered over the rear axle. I got the Summit 10m gal aluminum w/foam summit part #SUM-290210 and used Russell -8an 90 deg. line fittings that came from Jegs.com http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=2692&prmenbr=361 I also used a fuel pump bracket from a '81 wgn that mounts the pump in the engine compartment. Since the cell is sumped I had to raise it 2" off the bed rather than cut the bed for the low spot. For this I used 2" PVC couplers from the hardware store. It's pretty easy from there, fuel to the carb, fuel return to the cell. I did use a 3/8 to 1/4 reducer in the return line underneath, at the bulkhaed, to go from the -8an fuel cell fitting (3/8) to the hard line (1/4). I've only had two problems so far, on step uphill angles I get fuel starve at less then 1/3 tank (you can hear it in this vid http://www.mesastate.edu/%7Edsleeper/mvi_0575.avi), and because the cell is about the same hight as the carb I get a gravity effect in the return line that makes it run rich (not enough return pressure). I'm thinking I'll run a hard line to the non tipover stop valve port on the top of the cell and cap the bottom outlet. As for running it as a secondary fuel tank, it should work as long as you get the plumbing right with the fuel separater. I pulled mine, along with all the other emmissons crap, but I don't have to pass any testing up here. I don't think that I would put any passengers in the back with a fuel cell. Seems alittle risky to me, but I guess if they don't smoke it might be OK. Thats my 2cents, hope it helps Oh and I've got some good pics of the cell but the file size is too big so I can email them if anyone cares. I think thats a killer pic!

Thanks SubaruBrat! Now to add ultimatesubaru.org. I'm sure it available, it would be rad if you could host it, whats it cost for a domain these days? -
They like catless Y pipes, stripped emissions, and castrol GTX 10w40. Watch the rear wheel wells, and remember that brakes only slow you down! I love my '85 Brat, rust holes and all. Good score!

Good point Qman! I just PM'ed SubaruBrat. Hopfully all is OK, but if not the logo can be reworked. That would be rad! I'll talk to Jeremy about making a second one.
