  1. Well the junk yard was a gold mine, 78brat, got the fender, got the drivers seat, got some interior parts, YEE HA! Sorry for yelling everyone. 80brat got the drivers door, its even blue, YEE HA! oops sorry. The funny part was there weren't any 80 and below cars, just the 2 brats, did I say YEE HA!!!
  2. Wow great info guys, anybody got any extra car doors just laying around getting in their way???? Thanks for the replys I'm headin to the JY.
  3. So it will be a safe bet that it will be little difficult to find such a door in this part of the country, cause everyone drives there old subees till the wheels fall off. Thanks for the info, could be alot of gen 1 parts for sale if I don't find a door:boohoo:
  4. Are gen 1 brat doors replaceable with any other subee doors??? Specificly 80 brats and 80 others, I hope oh how I hope! Heres a tip don't start your brat from outside the drivers door with it in reverse with the door open next to a fence post:banghead: :boohoo:
  5. almost positive there is a speedo cable in the mix, thats usualy the toughest part, at least in all the dash adventures I've taken
  6. Simple tip for those of us who have lost or just don't have that protective little cover on our positive battery cable. Just cover it with a tripple layer of duct tape?? yeah thats what I did after sparking a tool one to many times:temper:
  7. I got my brat clutch kit and water pump for 150.00 from napa,......... well not really. Someone else did and then sold me the 80brat with this stuff on it, good news! Bad news, its been over heated, rearended that also frontended it, and had the seats taken out, but for 150 its alot of parts for my 79. I'm just crazy enough to get it going and hook it to a tree and undent it. TTFN:D :santa:
  8. Can' say for sure that its this but some Subees have a circut under the dash that after say 60,000 miles the egr light lights to remind the user to have that system checked. There is a plug under the dash and you would undo it from where its pluged and replug it to another and that resets the light, sorry I can't give more specific info but its been along time since I was under the dash of that specific breed.:cornfuzz:
  9. O K whats the best way to check a head for cracks that will effect performance, I mean in my driveway, not in town. I have 2 ea71 heads that are have cracks between the valves, I have heard this is common and alot of times they aren't serious enough to scrap the head out. I have placed them on a table on the level with the spark plugs in and filled the combustion area with water, one took 1/2 an hour to leak down, the water came out the exhaust port, I think that exhaust seat is cruddy. The other diddn't leak down. Whats the word guys/gals?
  10. I usually succeed when ever I try something like that, then well its:banghead: :banghead: time!
  11. Total $ spent: Forty dollars. It looks a million times better than it ever did. Eric Those are the magic words, see it does'nt matter to anyone else how it looks, if you like it better the effort was worthwhile. This year I painted my 84 Brat with 115$ of duplicolor spray cans, cost to much but looks good. 79Brat with 4 different colors of white mixed together, thanks neighbor and black undercoating, looks totaly awsume. the Tail end of 90Legacy gloss black, the rest of the car is arctic white, and yes its weird but I love it. SO if you go for it it really does'nt matter, it will look better than befor.
  12. befor climbing into the carb cleaning, I would be sure to check all the vacume lines and conections, I had a hose that looked good but the metal nipple it connected to was rusted and cracking I had to remove that part of the steel and reconnect, so leave nothing unchecked:clap:
