  1. I have been experiencing my headlights going off while driving @ night, sometimes they just go off when driving and sometimes they go off after I turn on and off the high beams . New bulbs..not sure what's going on
  2. I need help. Got a perfect Cyclops third eye working and the original grille is designed for a two-headlight setup on Subaru Brat. I need to change out four headlights on my 1983 Brat GL for two, see attached photo. I am looking to purchase two front headlight bezels and the lights, thanks!
  3. Hello, everyone. I'm newly registered to this site and have an odd one to request some insights into: [*]One low beam bulb (9005) does not work. Swapped sides with the correct (and working), matching low beam bulb and the original side still did not work. Brand new bulb tried on both sides to verify as the same. [*]All fuses were intact and the lighting-related fuses were checked for continuity and swapped around. No change. [*]Swapped the high/low relays from one side to the other. No change. [*]No power to the side not working but that's sort of to be expected from the diagnosis. No visible corrosion or breaks in wires. [*]Front running, fog and turn signal lights all work. Here's where it gets stranger: [*]No high beams on either side. New bulbs (H11). All fuses/relays swapped with no change. [*]High beam indicator light on the dash works when the lights are flashed or set to "on" (forward and back positions on the switch handle). [*]Cycling through the lighting options/positions on the switch works (minus the dead low beam and both high beams). All of this occurred at once. My wife claims to have heard some sort of "pop" sound but didn't think much of it. I'm getting to wit's end as this just doesn't make sense. I'm going to retest everything with my multimeter up and down the wiring harness but that's the last thing I can think of short of not driving it at night. Thanks for any help you may be able to offer. -CMA
  4. about 3 times now I have noticed an odd thing leaving for work in the morning. The right side headlight does not come on (drl) when I release the handbrake. One day, it stayed off for my entire 11 miles trip, another day it had a delay of about 1 or 2 seconds, then came on. This morning, it came on when I revved to leave my driveway (I have to reverse up an incline). This morning I was also able to confirm that the high beams work OK when this is happening. Also, the symptom persists if I use the stalk to switch on the low beams. When the light is off - no manipulation of handbrake or switches would make it illuminate. The problem 'seems' to be getting more common but - I have only seen it happen 3-4 times. I think i recently read that the 2 'sides' of the system may have different relays? maybe I could swap them?
  5. Will the headlight assembly for either the WRX/STI or Legacy fit on the the 2015 Impreza Sport Limited?
  6. Anybody point me to an existing discussion about an HID headlight conversion process/parts/kit for the 1998 Outback, or describe the possibilities for upgrading the factory headlights to much brighter types? Am tech savvy, electrical savvy, mechanical savvy -- fire away -- I'll grok! Subeedoo
  7. I recently bought a 2006 outback , the car has had front end damage before . That doesn`t bother but the two not matching headlights do. In the passenger side they have one with the black background and the drives side is chrome. I don`t mind either one but can someone tell me what to order to get a mate to either thanks for now
  8. I recently have been helping a friend "repair" her 2000 Legacy Outback from a recent collision with an ELK!!! Hood, smashed, and drivers headlight busted and pushed in. Fender dented in but not crumpled back into door at all. Most of the force was in the "fall" of the elk onto the hood more than the "hit" pushing in. But anyhow...... The car had previously been "repaired" from a front end collision, so the passenger side headlight was already sunk in a tad. I sourced a '03 Baja hood and headlight.....cheap...with a bit of wrinkles but should match the car well since the fenders are not perfect, and the Bumper skin is gone. (a lift and bullbar are coming soon.....so the mad max...not so perfect look is fine) After bolting it all up,...it seems the hood and headlight are 3/4 inch or so longer than they should be. It really doesn't seem like the rad support is that far off. In fact it measures out to within 1/4" of a stock undamaged reference car. But still the hood and driver headlight are noticably farther forward in front than the headlight on the other side. Does anyone no if there is a difference in these hoods headlights? did they make the front end longer a hair when they introduced the H6? And Baja didn't have an H6 so why would they be longer? Or is something still just "off" with the front support piece? Anyone?
