  • Did some real work on the Brat for the first time in a while.

  • it depends on how you plan on driving it...   at WCSS7, I had my Brat there with a built EA81. I used a weber adapter plate with 2 half inch spacers, then a slightly modified 2->4 bbl adapter

  • More importantly, no problem with parts availability. These brakes will be stocked on every parts store shelf from now til the collapse of society.   Keep in mind that these have no e-brake capabili

Guess who has rear e-brakes on his Brat? This guy does.

Just need a handle now!

That bumper and hitch looks great!

Any photos from below looking up at it?

Well I've been driving around on the justy brakes for a few days now and I can't feel a difference at all, they seem to be working great!

Hopefully I can get a handle sorted out soon.

I'll get a pic of the underside of the hitch when the rain clears up

Picked up a toyota corolla handbrake assembly, looks like it should work great. Cutting a hole for it this weekend.

Dimensions are 30x12x9, fits just neatly behind the diff.

14 gallons

That's awesome. Great to know. Mines leaking now so I need to do something.

Moving to Vancouver BC in 2 days, got her all ready to go I think.

Decided to put cats in to make sure it passes smog, and she actually runs quite a bit smoother now. I think the twin 1 3/4" pipes were a bit too much. Needed a bit more restriction to keep exhaust velocity up.

I can't really think of any practical way to do that without lifting at least 6 inches, or putting a cell in the bed.

I have a wagon. 6 inch lift is plausible.

i believe someone on here put a small second tank under the carpet the carpet on one(i cant remember if there is a little spot that goes down in the back or not because im more into brats). but if it were a brat you could have a second tank up close to the cab under the bed.

I moved to Vancouver, BC at the beginning of the year, so I had to take the Brat through emissions testing.

I installed cats, and after discovering I had the wrong MAF I passed with flying colours, 0% CO and HC was 10x below the limit :D

The guy testing just stood at stared at the report for a minute before he handed it to me. I wasn't obliged to inform them that it had a swapped motor :P

what winch do you have and did you have to install a second alternator or do you have something other than stock?:slobber: I really wanna put a winch on mine. also did you fab the winch mount your self, and could i see a pic?

  • Author

I have pics of the alternator somewhere in this thread, it's a 185amp alternator from an ambulance.

Winch is mounted directly to the bumper

Thanks! I had an incident camping in the summer which caused the destruction of my tailgate, so I started on a new one of those as well.

But of course, now that winter is settling in I'm getting back to the problem which I should have dealt with in the summer but didn't. The car NEVER gets up to operating temp. Unless it's under massive load or idling for a long long time in hot weather. I have the radiator completely blocked off with aluminum sheet metal, but it still sits around 60C. Which makes the already feeble heater basically useless. Tried two OEM thermostats with no difference. Weirdest problem.
