i just hit 100 miles with my new(new to me) multi point efi ea82 in my 86 ea81 hatch. my computer is sitting in the passenger seat, and no o2 sensor yet, but oh what a difference 25 hp makes! cant wait to turbo it.:headbang:

25 HP? Your 86 should have had the hydro lifter EA81, and those make around 80 - 85 HP stock - depending on who you talk to....

I don't know what an MPFI EA82 makes, but it's got to be less than the 110 that the turbo has

Just sounds like a lot to me I guess. But I'm glad it's working on for you! And of course the old engine probably had it's issues, so you may not have been getting good power from it.

ya, i guess it depends on where you look, i was thinking 75 hp on the ea81 and around 96+? on my new mpfi, with a little internal work, and intake and exh and all.

im putting a giant cone filter on this morning, and that should help to, i'll try and snap some pics. what do these things weigh? mine is guted in the rear, but i made up for the lost weight with xt6 seats and the extra 14 lb motor. i'll have to drive it to a scale to get a half accurate weight, i think truck scales are accurate with in 20 lbs.

nice job efi is the only way to fly. I hate carbs.

when I first converted my truck. I had the ecm in a grocery bag under the hood. I understand. ;)

well, i have had it in there once before, so i had to make it clear that is does run =]

Glad to see its up and running! Honestly I'm amazed. It was quite an undertaking. More involved and more thinking then a 2WD > 4WD swap that's for sure!

? for the filter?

Yep. Speaking from experience, cone filters do no good sucking hot air straight outta the engine bay. A heat shield will make a difference.

ya, i need an o2 sensor too, but i hope to turbo/intercool it before the end of april, so thats its temporary location. otherwise there would be a hole in the hood =]
