Ok so this post did not render much response in the "shop talk" forum, so I figure it will generate more here. I am trying to do some legitimate

evaluation/research on Jackmans. In particular 14in flat spoke. But also Jackmans as a whole.

 

I am going to add one more question to the original four as well.

What is the estimated value of a set of good condition 14inch Jackmans?

I have 2 SETS of jackmans,

13's

one sets the curved ones

other set is the flatter ones.

I've got 2 of the 14" Jackmans. Paired up with 2 14" pug steels.

I've got two 13in jackmans with old school studded snows on them, I don't think I would ever use `em though.

I'll have to look, but I think I have 3 full sets, maybe some extras. Sold a set with a car a year or so back as well. All 13's.

 

Also, as a FYI for anyone who's not sure, Jackmans were the flat ones with a "J" stamped on one of the spokes. They were not curved like the EA81 and EA82 wagon spoke wheels.

Were there flat-spoke EA81/EA82 wagon wheels? Cuz I saw a 13" at the Junkyard but didnt see a J stamped on but they were dirty... they were flatter than the wagon wheels but still curved.

Flatter is EA82. The super curved ones are EA81

jackmans are pretty much flat side to side... and thicker steel...

I have 2 sets

Both 13 inch

One set is the Ea81

Other set is Ea82 (flatter)

 

I paid 100 (for the ea82 ones)

and ea81 came with my brat!

as far as estimated value of the 14" set, I would say that 10 years ago there was probably a greater interest in them, but in the last 10 years there's been a drastic change in tires available in 14" size.

 

I bought my 2 14" jackmans for $135 (from Spokane) and have been watching for more of them since 2005 and haven't seen any...

I would have paid big money to complete my set or buy a full set, but now I don't even have anything that's 4x140....

 

there was another member (in AZ I think) who had some on his Gen1 Brat with lift, but I haven't seen him in a while, and never saw a good pic of them...

 

"Legend has it" that they were part of the special package sold in 79 or so for the Gen1 Brat. Package included a lift kit and wheels.

 

But if you're selling, mark me as interested I'm still thinking one day I'll lift a Gen1 Brat....

It seems there is some confusion about this.

 

The Jackmans are FLAT spokes.

YeAh just looked it up, the super curved ones are made by Subaru not jackman.

Why nobody ever looks at the Subarus of the 80's page is beyond me. So much useful info on there. Sure helped me when I first joined.

Has anyone considered the adapters from the 140 mm subaru to the wide vw 5 bolt pattern offered by I believe SJR? I found a few 5 hole Jackmans out there as well as a whole slew of other steel wheels as well as aluminum.
