Subaru gl dome LED

Featured Replies

Could you post a link to where you bought them?

I've got one of those. Replaced my rear light in my coupe with the LED strips. I love their brightness, the light could be a little softer, though. I also wired my map lights (the ones by the rear-view mirror) into the dome circuit to brighten it up a bit, too. I had to wire the dome to a new switch anyway, so I got a couple diodes from Raioshack, and wired them both to the switch.

i got one of those in my 85 hatch but its only a 12 led one looks nice

anyone want to take one of those flat panel dome lights

and see how well it would work against the dash?

might be an easy install.. but then i guess it would block some view of something..

Well, I've used Led panels (in different sizes) since years ago, but for Dome Light I use the Smaller one (only six Leds) in order to avoid too much brightness if someone needs to turn the Light "On" while Driving.

But it doesn't outshine the Dash at all.

Kind Regards.

Hello Friends! re: 1992 Loyale 4WD stock manual S/R H1.8 So, I went with the idea of swapping out all the lights in my dash per Bumblebeast and ended up replacing ALL the interior lights with LEDS. I love it so much in the dash of the loyale, I installed them in my 1989 GL wagon and two other non-Subaru cars as well. My brother-in-Law is a full time Mechanic and he's going to start installing them in his customer cars as a bonus for doing business with him. Even after all that my Loyale is still terribly dark at night... because there is only ONE dome light. How many dome lights? Oh, ONE! Solution: Last year I went to the local scrap yard and picked the map reader light console from a 88 GL and I cut a template hole in the headliner perfectly in my loyale, but alas, no wires. I read somewhere on this forum that the 92 still has the wiring harness but it's down low in the A-frame somewhere. I didn't mess with it. time passes. A few days ago a good friend of mine gave me stretch of LED lights in a strip to help improve the dark cabin, especially the wagon section and WOW DID IT HELP to get me motivated to run power up there. I ended up running power from the central dome light both to the front map-readers AND the rear strip and it lights up the night! It is WAYYY too bright. (a better problem than too dark.) I configured the wiring so that it turns on the same time the dome light comes on. example: either with the dome switch, or when a door is opened. And my front map readers come on whenever either map button is depressed on/off manually. here's a pic. before and after at dusk.

Hey Rob, where did you find/get those 4-LED lamps?  They're perfect for the interior dome, and the light in the cargo section of my wagon.

Here is where I got mine:

Search for T10 LED for the map light plug style.

Amazon Map lights.

$6.99 for 20 of them:
XT AUTO 20pcs Super White T10 Wedge 5-SMD 5050 LED Light bulbs W5W 2825 158 192 168 194 for Car Boot Trunk Map Light Number Plate License Light

eBay Dome Lights:
qty: 10 of the T10 and then there are the qty: 10 of the 31MM 9 LED festoon blades.  I suspect they will have 12x chips on them available now.

I got my LED strips from here: https://www.superbrightleds.com/

... I went with the idea of swapping out all the lights in my dash per Bumblebeast ...

Then, please share some Photos of your Dashboard / instrument Cluster, with us; on its Thread.
