May 5, 200421 yr oops.. posted this question in off topic.. forgot i was in there.. anyways, its spring/summer and the oil debates have started (dino v. synth). i was just wonderin what oil FILTERS you all used and why... thanks...
May 5, 200421 yr I like Wix. Some interesting reading. WIX....use that on my vw my dads truck, both my sisters cars. and the sub.
May 5, 200421 yr I like Wix. Some interesting reading. diddo, but i also use pensoil because i get them for free since i also get free oil changes, and everything else like coolant system change, fluid change and in thing, rearend, tranny, etc since i work at Jiffy Lube in Redmond.

LOL, Jiffy Lube Crew, Holla! Puyallup South Jiffy Lube here. We dont get paid enough do we? Anyways, I use Napa Gold Filters, and throw a couple Hard Drive magnets on the end of it, works pretty good, I guess.

Dude...the Penz filters are the same as Fram. Carboard and Glue! Big no no... I use NAPA Golds. I have a list of the bigger filters if you want...the BIGGEST we have avalibe (we, yes, I work for them) is the 1459...but that has a by pass valve in it. THe biggest with out is the 1647.
May 5, 200421 yr I currently use the walmart supertech 3600 and run 15w40 year round, and about 1000 miles before I change the oil, I stick on the big magnet to the oil pan, and add mmo :argue:
May 5, 200421 yr Author whew...thanks for the link to bob's oil site.. i think i spent over two hours last night going cross eyed reading many of the posts over there..i think i'll probably still go with what ive been using (napa gold and castrol gtx combo), but am still open to better suggestions..
May 5, 200421 yr and for what it's worth a GENUINE HONDA is a CANADIAN made FRAM does someone have a list of filters that will "fit"? wether it be larger, smaller, or same size?
May 5, 200421 yr Ive used Fram filters for years. Not really knowing how crappy they are. Never really had many issues with them. But my last oil change I used a napa filter (wix) now I have a tad higher oil pressure and my engine runs much quieter. hum..... I'm convinced.
May 5, 200421 yr I think that if you go to the Baldwin Filters site you will find some interesting date. Baldwin filters down to 10 mocrons whereas Napa Gold and some of the others that you fellas have talked about only filter down to 30 microns. A micron is equvilant to about 1/25,000 of an inch. I have run Baldin for years. Their filter cases are almot "bullet proof". Another filter of SURPERIOR quality, like the Baldwin, is the one sold by Amsoil, the only oil that I have used in my service truck, my International School bus and all of my POV's accept my sons VW Diesel Rabbit. I also run Baldwin fuel filters and K&N air rilters on all of my rigs.
May 5, 200421 yr some more info on oil filters that i found. http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/ http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html
May 5, 200421 yr heres a good one. a harley filter, from 90-99 dyna glide models fits right on. you can get it in chrome, and its twice the size(longer) than the subaru ones.
May 5, 200421 yr just make sure its not for a twin cam! totally different style filter media. long evolution filter is all the parts guy should need to know
May 5, 200421 yr Purolator filters rate high on all the studies posted on the internet. I use them because I like to shop at Bi-mart where you can get in and out quickly, no lines. If I go to wal-mart I have to wait in line behind hordes of people. I used to use castrol gtx oil. Now I use Valvoline. Bill
