Manual To Automatic Tranny Swap?

Featured Replies

I just bought a 1994 subaru loyale 4wd 5 speed..  It came with a parts car, 1993 loyale 1.8, but automatic tranny (the tranny is blown, hence its a parts car).

However the parts car has a body in much much better shape (it doesnt have any of the typical subaru rust).

My question is, is it possible to do a engine and tranny swap from the driver car to the parts car?

I'm very mechanically inclined and it definitely looks doable, I'm just wondering if it will jive or not.

Thanks for any help!!

sorry, noticed this was in the wrong forum, i'll correct it

With both vehicles available it should be quite possible.  You probably won't even have to purchase anything other than maybe fluids and gaskets. Good Luck!

Thanks!

My main concern is whether or not the stick shifter will go in the same slot as where the auto shifter sits, everything else looks great

I've done them on 93-96 Legacy's and everything bolts right in so you should be fine.

awesome thanks a lot.  Pretty excited about this.  Ill be starting it probably next weekend, so if anyone wants any updates about how it goes. let me know

Your post is in the correct forum.

Not really.....He's askin about a Loyale (old gen EA82)

But in response to his question yes everything can be swapped pretty easily.  Except if the Auto car is a 2wd........it will not have the cptive nuts in the body threaded for rear driveline, and mustache bar.
