Found a tool in my Loyale, Whatsit for???

Featured Replies

Found what appears to be a large allen wrench or hex driver in a pouch snapped to the area beneath the back seat on the passenger side. If you were in the rear passenger side seat, it would be behind your calves. (i rarely clean my car or go in the back seats). It is about 8 inches in length and is shaped as to be used in a cranking motion. What is it for and how do I use it???

myoss feece and i noticed on ein the newly acquired 91 lotale, its in a pouch that snaps to the floorpan just under the pass rear seat.

the only thing i could think of subaru having an allen head is the bolts that hold the seat tracks to the seat.

but i saw it only in the loyale. i wonder if it has to do with the power seatbelt system? for some kind of adjustment or manual reel

It's for your automatic seat belt. You use the allen wrench to the move the seat belt in the track manually in case it ever stopped working.you need to expose the seat belt motor to use the tool.

Another cool tool is in the fuse box. It's a pair of tweezers to remove the fuses easily.

Yes, they did use those for the sunroofs. But this one in question came in every Loyale, sunroof or not. As said before it's for cranking up the seatbelts if they stop working. There's an acces hole with a dummy plug at the bottom of the b-pillar used to get to the motor.

thanks for the info everyone. i was thinking it was for folding the rear seats forward or something. y'know, since there are hinges on the bottom of the seat part of the seat (as opposed to the back part of the seat) and I can't figure out how to make those go forward either.

On my '86 there is a strap attached to a latch in the center of the seat cushion. I usually have to fish it out from where the seatbacks meet the cushion. Pull the latch and the bottom seat cushion folds forward so that the seatbacks will fold down flat. Don't know if this is different for the loyales.

loyale are the same. The strap in the middle back of seat can get tucked in and can be hard to find. did you know the drivers seat has a adjustable lumbar back support.I think I owened my car for a year before I found that.

The latest tool I found in/on my car is a bottler opener. Anyone else found this tool. It's the door latch on the body side.

I've got one in my Loyale, too. Thanks! I've been wondering what that thing was for years....

Knew about the lumbar support, but the knob is missing on mine, may be time for a run to the parts yard
