January 8, 20242 yr Shop around. Some dealerships use "matrix pricing" which equates to $$$. I buy from out of state and have parts shipped to me, and it's still cheaper than going to any of my local dealerships.
January 11, 20242 yr Author Just had to look a little deeper in the drawers in the garage. Found a good one. I went to they yard on Monday, but every Subaru had the engine pulled, Alt and all. I found a couple but the bearings were a bit loud. Fixed and back on the road! Sweet.
January 11, 20242 yr That's for a brand-new OEM one. Pretty normal for a new OEM alt to be upper 3 digits. 23700AA37AR1 is the remanufactured version, which has an MSRP of $309.52 and $50 core.
January 20, 20242 yr Yes, OEM alternators are pricy but worth it compared to other rebuilts. Other rebuilders only replace defective parts but Subaru replaces anything that might fail so it's as good as a new one. I recall pricing one for my 2005 Impreza and it was around the same price as you found. I kjust put an OEM on my 2000 Outback and luckily for that year it was only around $250
