October 13, 200421 yr So, five years ago, my fiancee and I bought a 97 Impreza Brighton from CarMax. It was clean, AWD, small (fiancee's preference), and auto. Nice car, so far, except I was a little disappointed that it didn't have a cupholder. Well guess what I just discovered!? It does! I found it while cleaning out the center console area during a long-overdue detailing. (My fiancee is not pitching a fit that I'm taking up the garage all winter with my project car, a BMW 325iC, so I thought I'd thank her by cleaning her Impreza up nice and neat.) That's a very well-disguised cupholder. --Chris
October 13, 200421 yr I will, I will  just kidding, congrats on the new discovery, and welcome to the board
October 13, 200421 yr When I bought mine, I picked it up from the dealership in the middle of the work day. Went back to work and started bitching to a friend about how I had just bought a car without a cup holder. This friend, a long time Sub owner, then made fun of me, and told me where it was...but 5 years? I would have found without this friend just during routine detailing (I also would have found it while installing the CD player).
October 13, 200421 yr sounds like you found the one in the center console . Did you find the other one too?
October 13, 200421 yr I like where they placed them in the forester.... Right in front of the vents!!! In the summer it cools your coffee and then in the winter it warms your soda! Who thought this up? It also blocks a fair amount of air when you use them... Just whining!
October 13, 200421 yr Isn't it against the law or something to eat/drink while driving in Japan? So the cupholders were just added where-ever for the foreign market? That's the story I got from somewhere, don't remember where... could be completely wrong.
October 13, 200421 yr it took me a year before i found the storage compartment in the floor of my wagon!
October 14, 200421 yr On 93-97 Imprezas they are the hardest to find. They totally appear to be the upper part of the black trim that surrounds the stereo. Much more stealthly than the 98+ (I know cause ive had a 96 and 98)
October 14, 200421 yr Yeah I was talking to Mike from Rallitek one day he said he used to have a older imp OBS and he said it took him something like 2 years to figure out he had those on his
October 14, 200421 yr the cupholders on the first gen imprezas are so sturdy! I knew where they were right away because it is in my nature to play with everything and see which way everything moves/twists/ect... I had to also show two friends where they were...they were simply amazed!
