Hello Everyone,

I keep having traction issues with the tires that are presently on my car in all conditions (yes they have ample tread and are properly inflated), I was wondering what everybody's favorite road tire is for the EA82 wagon. I know they are an "oddball" size, but I would like to know what my options are. I may swap mine out sometime soon (once I wear them out).

185-70r 13s, but some tire places will only mount what the mfg says on the door frame, goodyears are pretty good,

Nokian WR (an all season tire) 185/70-13 works for me in all conditions.

Goodyear Ultragrips work great. I'm currently running BF Goodrich Trailmaker plug tires (studable, but I dont have any in em) And my old Brat had Pacemark High Tractions.

Cooper tire makes two 195/70/13s a Classic II blackwall and Cobra w/ white letters. They are only .5-inches taller but also alittle wider so your speedometer will probably only be 1 or 2% off. I owned a set of the Classics on my Brat years ago and were very satisfied with their performance. Also have had the Classics installed on my daughter's former 93 Legacy and wife's former Mustang they did great. They are not a cheap tire though. Just giving you another option to consider.

I roll with a studless winter tire all year, because it has mad traction off road and pretty good in mudd and really good when rallying gravel.

For your rims its tougher to find GOOD tires. I'd find the meanest Mud and Snow (M+S) rated tires you can find. All Seasons usually suck unless you spend lots of money. Just Snow tires will wear out too fast.

The best all round tire I have used is the TOYO Ultra 800 Touring Radial that Les Schwab sells. This tire is GREAT in the rain and very decent in the dry. A little spendy but not horrible. They don't really hydroplane either. We have some pretty heavy rains and these don't pull or drift in puddles or grooves in the road. We have them on my Wife's Legacy and my son's Impreza.

 

 

They are available in 185/70R13 and 175/70R13 depending on your model.

Thanks for all the info. I currently have Goodyear Club 185-70R13 on all wheels. My wet traction is horrible, and my dry traction is very good. At the time we bought them, they were all that Goodyear had available (we were using exclusively Goodyear tires). I would like to stick with Goodyears for several reasons, so I may try the Ultragrips next time I have to replace them. I need to drive in all weather conditions, but I am most concerned about wet weather because those are the times with reduced visibility when a quick stop or turn would be critical.

I think my mom's OBW has the same tires on it that Qman mentioned. It now has dedicated winter tires, but we used to run the Toyo's year round and they worked surprisingly well in all conditions and have lasted quite a long time.

They really do work well in the snow, ice and rain that comes with winter.

 

The Ultra Grips are a good "snow tire" but they suck on normal bare and wet roads.

just adding my 2 cents worth, i'd go with the toyo z800 ultras. i've had them on my 86 suby for around 6 years and never had a traction problem or wear problem they handle nice too, dry, wet, snow and not to bad in ice as long as you drive carfully. i might add siping to them too.

205/60/13 BFGoodrich Comp TA HR4 All season high performance. Good in the snow/slush/wet/dry/gravel. Lasts ok if you drive 'normally' but I get about 5k~8K out of a set and I drive like its a WRC rally everywhere I go.

 

Otherwise....its up to you.....but for me, if I actually had to BUY tires...I'd be going with the Khumo 711 or MX or ASX.

I use tires that are round, have a some decent tread, and hold air. I have had a miss match of worn out snow and crappy street tires for a while but I finnaly got a set of matching tires a few months ago. I think they are coopers and the y seem decent for all around stuff
