January 28, 200521 yr Forester Gets a Major Facelift Redesigned Forester introduced in Japan gets an updated look and some new features. Looks interesting. I'm guessing the 2.0 N/A engine is offered only outside the US? Not that I want one, I just don't see SOA getting rid of the EJ25 anytime soon.
January 28, 200521 yr I wouldn't call that a 'major' facelift. The basic looks are still there, and in my opinion, it's not really an improvement. It does sort of lean towards the looks of the B9 front end. I really hope the latest Impreza facelift doesn't head this direction.
January 28, 200521 yr I like it! Seems a bit updated like the outback. Seems like a lot of Yen (1,974,000) for a base model Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
January 28, 200521 yr I pasted this side-by-side with current model; minor tweaking of hood, front valence and grill/shell/lights. May also have a different lower body cladding. All consmetics. Nothing new to see here, move along.
January 28, 200521 yr it seems more suv ish, but not so much as to be "i'm better than you" about it. it may just be the rear bumper but it certainly looks higher
January 29, 200521 yr I like the updates to the next Forester, but I wouldn't call it a major facelift. It reminds me of what Subaru did with the previous generation. Minor changes to the 2001 and 2002 models, then major changes to the 2003 Forester, front, back and sides and interior. If they follow the same schedule, the 2008 model should be interesting! But I do like the new front end and cupholders. I don't like the gated shifter for the auto tranny, which will apparently be continued.
January 29, 200521 yr Yeah, it doesn't look major, but it is still very freshened, and I like it!!! I was 95% expecting this to be an article about how the Forester was getting the new ugly Subaru corporate grill... I actually have to liken the front end to a new 4Runner a bit though...
January 29, 200521 yr im sure they will try to see how the b9 tribeca sells before they make them all look the same. I like that forester, looks a bit meaner but not cartoony. edited cause I confused the b9x with the tribeca
January 29, 200521 yr Forester Gets a Major Facelift Its pretty sexy. I really like them...newer ones much more than the first ones.
January 30, 200521 yr Yes, the 2003+ Foresters are much prettier than the first generation ones. This one is nicer still. Seems to have some innovative features (water resistant fabrics and the like.) I just wish they were a little bit bigger. Over in Australia, besides getting low range in their Foresters (though only in the MT versions), they sold a 'camping' version that had an inflatable mattress in the back. I'd like to be able to do something like that with my OBW, but the cargo area is just a little too short. The only way I could do it is by removing the back seat's bottom cushion. I hope Subaru continues to refine the Forester. Besides its good looks, it should be a better off road vehicle than the OBW simply because it has much better approach/departure angles. It also has a full-size spare.
January 31, 200521 yr The more I look at the pics of the 2006 Forester, the more I like it. Interesting how the grill went from kind of a toothy grin, (my 2000 Forester), to the next generations 'meaner' look. Maybe when I finally pay off my car in 2008, sigh...
January 31, 200521 yr I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but it kinda looks like the Ford Freestyle from the front to me. And the taillights, I can't believe that they would do that, but in a way I do kinda like them. I don't know, it'll probably grow on me, like all Subaru facelifts have.
February 1, 200521 yr Wow very nice! Looks like the last of of a true Subaru before they all get that B9 grill. I might have to get myself a 06 forester
February 1, 200521 yr NO! Keep 'em U-G-L-Y! I don't mind the kindy ugly look of our 01 Forester, and if keepin' 'em ugly keeps resale low, those of us that love buying three year old Subies for a fraction of the new price will put up with homely looks!
