i need a winch

Featured Replies

I've been looking at the Mile Marker winches, has any one had any experience with that brand??? Sorry I can't help you John, but this seemed like a good thread to find out about that winch. Thanks, Tim

Check Harbor freight to see if they have anything that fits your needs.

This is what I have on the back of the Buggy

The only down side I see to the winch is it says it has no auto lock, although I have never had it unwind on me?

I use snatch block too, just in case....

tim the mile marker are good. the volentier fire dep here uses them on all the trucks. they make two kinda an electric and a hydrolic one that runs off the power stearing pump. i would go with the mile marker. like an 8000lb one there probably not as good as a warn winch but hay ther half the price....

oh and stay away from the ramsy winches the 4x4 shop here wont even sell them to people they say there always having problems with them...

mile markers, harbor frieght, champion winches will all get the job done, but they are slow. Warn winches have bigger motors so they can pull just as hard but also go faster. For emergency self recovery any of the cheaper winches will do fine. People like warns because they can hook up the winch and drive up an obstacle along with its help, and the warn will keep up and take up the slack.

Just an FYI, the entry level mile marker 3000lb unit is the EXACT same unit as harbor freight.

how much weight do we need for our 200-2500lb cars?

is 2000 lbs enough, or do we need more. mud is about the only thing i realy need it for.

and for pullin morganm out =x

The rule of thumb for winches is 1.5x the weight of your vehicle. So if your car weighs 2500 lbs, you need at least a 4000 lb winch.
