WRC goes back to its roots...

Featured Replies

The new 2005 WRC car is using 4 lug now. Looks like 4x140MM too.

I seen that same spoiler on ebay a couple days ago, made by Prodrive in England. They wanted an @$$ load of money for it... So does this mean that the RX is getting some new rims Will?;)

Yep. Going to call ProDrive UK tomorrow. If its 4x140MM, then im getting the rims and the whole brake system and everything. Thats way more important than the other crap Ive got going on.

i noticed something..wven "IF" they were 4x140, i think that offset would be way too much on an older soob. look at how wide the frikin fenders are

A bit of guard bending would fix that!

You want fenders like that? In about a year, I should be able to fabricate them.

Corky

inside look at those fenders

That would be so great if is 4X140

i almost lost it when i saw those pics last night. that engine shot is nuts. i could just imagiune havein huge fenders like that on a rx or brat.:slobber:

Beautiful car - does anyone know if the lugs are 4X140 yet??

if you look at the side wall of the tire, they are 15" rims, the tires are 225/55/15.

okay, I found some high res shots here....

I took the large side shot and did some measurements.

The wheels are 16's, and measuring the screen image, and doing the math, I come up with 5.5" bolt pattern

Originally I thought they were 17's without looking. still looks like 16 to me. there's a spec on the front wheel, which clouds it up, so I went to the back wheel. to me, it doesn't have the hard line of the 5... plus there's not much difference between a 5 and a 6 in that type of font :)

If you look at the front 3/4 shot, you can clearly read R15 on the sidewall.

nice catch....

here's the tires on it....

largest size available on the Pirelli site: 225/55 R 15

went back to the pic, and re-measured, and come up with a 137mm bolt pattern... bit I figure with the margin of error possible, that it's still a 140mm pattern.

soo... my question becomes.. if this is the new rally/sti standard...

does that mean that the production sti's will also start doing the "4 bolt" pattern

thus spurring the rim industry to start makeing after market rims

instead of us po'folk having to daydream of importing them ?

Doubt it. Pretty sure Subarus will be going to the 5x114.5 pattern on the '05 STi hubs.

05s are already out thus if they do go back to the 4 lug then it will be the 06 that has them

generally, i thought, if the car is in the wrc, the designs have to be made in mass quantities, something like 250000 units that are sold to the consumer market, or something like that.

Thats a good point. I wonder what the reasoning behind going to 4 stud was? I spose its probably just because the larger PCD makes the whole assembly stronger.

the 05's that came out in 04 and are still out now and up until the middle of this year will have and do have the 5x114.3 or so.
