If I have access to Pugs, is there any real point in going with the Toyota (or equiv) wheels? Plus, I'm going to use the 27' SSR's - which are are available for both 14" and 15" wheels. 14" pug steelie = more sidewall for offroad flex.

well now it would depend on the lug nuts they use... some arent very common.

 

If you go with the Toy rims are you gonna change the hub or drill out the rim looks come into play here, and if you change your hub no more stock subaru bolt pattern.....

 

I would go for 15" steel pugs with the normal lug nut. most advantages and tire choices for the money.

If you got the pugs, go with em, i love em, i got a set on 2 of the 3 subies i have, 100% of the 4 bolters.

 

With the Toys, they are more necessary when you move up to bigger than 28 inches, or live in a pug free zone.

I'd go with the Pugs for now, since they're your original bolt pattern - no drilling out the hub or the wheel. I've got 14" Pugs on mine, and they're awesome. The stance they give the car just looks downright mean.

If you can get the swampers in a 14 and can get 14 inch pugs, do so.

 

More tire between the rim and ground. You can deflate them more offroad.

 

The pug rims have a decent offset.

The Toy rims tend to give too much offset, meaning you have to cut more to make them fit without rubbing on turns.

That's what I've been thinking. I'll have to check with my Peugoet guy and see if he has another set, as I sold the last set with the car. Although I *might* be able to work a deal with the guy who bought it from me.

So, what width Pugs did you use Noah? The Interco web site says to use 6.5" or wider, but I can't seem to find any that wide. I know where I can get a bunch of 5" but that seems a little narrow.

I went with the toy wheels cuz I found a set of five chrome/steel ones for $15 each. They are 15x6 with 3 3/8 negative back spacing and I love 'em. I decided to drill the wheels and not the hubs since the hubs already have re-enforcement at the lug studds. I am now running 215/75/15 Hankook MT's on my 82 Brat and no problems. I finally got stuck in a 4 foot snow drift last week when I was out hunting. I've never run pug's so I guess I can't compare them.

I beleive that's the only width that pugs came in....AND, I beleive many people have run swampers on them anyway. I've been researching this myself....although I do hope someone corrects me if I'm wrong.

I found a 5.5 x 14 at a Peugeot specialist - he said they were rare. I do know that I can get a 15" that (I think) is 6 wide - but I'd really like the 14's. There's a rocky hill I used to go up locally where a lot of other 4x's had trouble. I could go through a little easier with my flexi-sidewall 13's than with the 14's I put on later. That extra bit of sidewall sure can help.

i've got yota rims on my brat, and i love them. Drilling the hubs is not hard to do yourself either and then you get a lot of rim choices. One thing i like about the yota rims is the width, i don't really like the narrow look of the Peugeot, but thats just me. you can always go back to the old subaru pattern you will just have 4 holes dilled in the hubs.

hey, if I want to convert to a toyota lug pattern on my hubs, is it possible to get new hubs that are already made with that bolt pattern rather than having to drill the stock one out? 1 hub in the rear of my 81 needs to be replaced, I'm not sure why but its extremely rusted, where as the other 3 hubs on the car are in perfect shape... I think maybe caused by leaky wheel break cylinder?

ya i was kinda thinking the same thing as scrap... having 2 sets of hubs, one set with the 6 bolt and another with the 4...

 

i'm just thinking because pugs are near impossible to find where i am... but its not like i need rims anytime soon... because i don't have a lifted rig... or getting one in the near future... so ya...

I've seen 2 sizes of the oval hole. 5" and 5.5"

and 2 sizes of the round hole. 5.5" (has a slightly raised lip around holes) and a 6" that is "flat" around the holes... (I am running a set of these too...)

Ehh... I'd have to go look at them, and they're in a pile down in the garage. Me thinks they're oval holed.
