My RXTurbo says Goodbye

Featured Replies

Hey,

I had fun with my RX turbo. I just wanted to let some peeps know that it is now history. I drove it to Maryland this weekend and Gary Gross got my intercooler situated PERFECTLY under my hood scoop. Just before the ride home, we notice the rear wheels where 'caved in'. The top portion turned inward on both rear wheels while the bottom part of the wheels turned outward. Gary jacked up the car and we inspected underneath and didn't noticed anything unusual so I proceeded to try to drive the car home.

It is a 2hr drive one way so about 1/2 hour into my drive home, I noticed a sound getting louder and louder from the rear. My rear tires were screaming from grinding and contacting from turning inward. Had 'Scrappy' towed to a dealership and they said there's nothing they can do with it. The frame rusted out so much that is simply gave way. I knew it was coming but dang.

(*&^%$ I never got to turn up the boost to beat WJMs dyno numbers.

So, I'll be parting it out after getting it towed back home at some point. The guy at the dealership even sounded sad and spoke as if I lost a loved one. Oh well! Scrappy treated me right and I never had a problem for the 1.2 years that I have owned it. It did nicely on the dyno for the few runs that I ran it. So here's my 40 ounce turned up for Scrappy. See yas!

Sorry to here about your loss. I'm sure those parts will go quick.

Maybe Gary might want the EA-82T for my old XT that he has (the grey turbo).

It is a major shame that another RX bites the dust.... the vultures are gonna be on that thing like flys on stink.... for the body kit etc...

hmm, you still want to try to beat will?? i might could help you out. my rx could be a willing test subject, thankfully, the body isnt rusted to hell on mine.

i actually want to set up my td04 and audi tt corner mount intercoolers to my rx.

either way, if you part it out, i would be interested in some parts. either way, we need to meet up someday, i awnt to see what you can do with my rx, i want a monster damnit. lol..

peace

tim

Ladies and Gentlemen, please bow your heads for a moment of silence to remember a fallen comrade......*TAPS playing in background*..........

Man, that is sad to hear. I know you loved that car. Too bad. Another Subarus life cut short by a serious case of rusticular cancer.:( I kinda wish that I lived a bit closer to you, because if nobody had dibs on the motor, I'd surely buy it from you. Bottoms Up!!! **pours out a little scotch**

id be happy to hold the engine in my rx till you can get it.:brow:

Rust Scmust.

Get some tubing and build a frame for it :-P (That'd be a sight to see, a "back halved" Subaru...

Sorry to hear that kevin, hopefully you can find another RX, or an equally cool project

EGADS HOTDOG!!!!

i thought for sure that since i didn't hear from you on the way back you made it okay. sorry about that! hope you at least made it close to home?

i thought about calling....bad gary....then i figured you would have called if you had any problems.

sorry to hear that hotdog.

glad we didn't try pulling my car with yours...that might have done it in quick and dirty!!

Yeah, I'm glad we didn't try that. Yeah, I made it home ok...Thanks to triple AAA. I've only had it one year and have towed my XT6s twice and now this.

I kinda feel relieved that it is over. Now I can concentrate on the SVX I'll be getting next week. I was --><-- close to getting a new radiator, thermostat and water temp sensor for it. What am I to do with six cars (5 Subbies) anyway? That's a sickness! I don't know where I would've stopped but at least I'm down one now so..... I'm sure there'll be another (Older) 1.8ltr turbo somewhere around after scavenging the parts off of it. Thanks for the support! :) Some older person selling a prestine turbo brat right? I can dream!

sorry to hear about your soobs demise - I was just talking to a guy the other day who lost his wagon years ago in much the same way. Luckily I have not had many rust issues, but I do have a few *minor* ones I need to address - I hate to hear about an RX dying - and rust seems such an unfair way to die :( - still, you actually did get to expierence one :burnout: - good luck with the SVX

id be happy to hold the engine in my rx till you can get it.:brow:

LOL I bet you would!!! And when it came time to pick it up, there would be so many mods strapped to it that you would be like,"It was in there the other day. Well, anyhow, it's in there somewhere."

i really want to get my rx tuned properly., its rather quick but still needs work and engine upgrades. i need more power in that car, my impreza is under powered and it even makes the rx feel slow. i got a larger turbo and some intercooles and such just sitting around waiting to go into my car, but i havent ha the tie or money lately to get anything done.
