July 4, 200619 yr I've put a few pics of my bumper in my gallery, let me know what you think. Later, Tim http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=522
July 4, 200619 yr Lookin good - I assume that bit in the front is for a winch? And the smaller holes for the turn signals? Looks plenty strong enough - my only sugestion from experience is to consider running your skid plate to the bumper as the radiator support on mine just keeps getting flatter and flatter :-\. I also reinforced the cross-member mount for the skid plate too - if you have power steering it unbolts, and I ran some 1/4" steel gussets on the inside of it to keep it from collapsing. GD
July 4, 200619 yr Looks good. Two ideas for improvement. . . Move your radiator, that way you can pull the bumper back and regain the approach angle you're giving up with how you have it now. You'll be closer to the frame rails, more leverage for pulling. Build it so the winch turns sideways and bolts to the front of the bumper. Makes it much stronger. See the photo below for reference. Sorry about the plate being in the way. A plate above it will strengthen it signifigantly.
July 5, 200619 yr That's sweet! I don't recognize the grill? Nice tires, thinking of something like that for my legacy (now that I've got OB 15's) Looks good. Two ideas for improvement. . . July 6, 200619 yr As long as he hasn't raised his motor back to stock he can do like Mike W. Then he could bring the bumper back to stock location or better for more approach angle.
July 6, 200619 yr Author I'm at a point where whats done is done:brow: . I appriciate the suggestions, If I ever do another one I'll look back at these. I added a couple more pics in the gallery particularly of how I mounted it. 3x1.5 tubing through the body channel. I'll put up more after paint lights and winch. Funny you mention the radiator........... If you ever decide to drill through the body channnel, put a board in front of the radiator:rolleyes: . Later, Tim Okay, this is the basic finished product. I might add some lights or D rings but that can be done later.
