September 14, 200619 yr I needed a change after busting my oil sender off the last 2 times out. (modified Gen1 large skid plate, but with a 5" lift.... just flexible enough to hit it when I tried to move a rock with the skid plate....) This is what I came up with to still retain the stock sender and gauge... and it even works!!!
September 14, 200619 yr I've seen sender units mounted horizontally in the oil pump (goes into the end on the left of that pic, next to where the pump bolts on.) Would that be protected enough? That setup you have there looks to do the trick though. Well done.

Well done. the DL's came with a dummy light switch that goes into a hole in the block right to the left of the pump. the plug that's in mine, will not budge, otherwise, I'd be using it for a rollover protection switch for my fuel pump I took the plug out of the end of the pump, but decided not to do anything with it, as it wasn't "just a plug" as there was a spring inside....
September 14, 200619 yr You always have some neat ideas Mick.That bracket that holds the sender looks like the fuel filter holder located by the pump on a ea81 car.Was it hard to get it to get the couplings to seal properly?DrKrazy mounted his sender differntly on his ea82 car,but if I can't do something similar to what he has done I will definately give that a try.Nice job.
September 14, 200619 yr oh oh quick question if the little metal tab on the sensor is broken can I just replace that or do I need to go get a whole new unit?

I needed to replace the clutch so I'm now running a XT6 pressure plate and my flywheel was turned to xt6 specs, with a new clutch disc. yeah, it's aluminum hardline (slightly flexible of course) the hardest part, was finding the proper fitting that would work with the stock sender. I found a couple, but this one worked the best.... I only ran it a little while last night in the garage, and no leaks.
September 15, 200619 yr Author drove it around a few blocks and no leaks seen yet... but I have some other issue. I just put in a new GCK axle in the left front, and I've got a hard knock now there.....

June 10, 201510 yr And on a 9 year old thread... I was going to fit one to an early EJ20T. I found a hole in the front of the block behind the power steering. Modified the bracket & got a fitting so that it could screw in. No idea if the other EJ motors have this or not.

June 11, 201510 yr It's not offensive and you've answered your own question. Members bring up the fact to newb's as a courtesy, so they know they may not get much response from a direct question to the OP. Also, if I am not mistaken this thread is for a Gen 1 not an EJ [see first sentence of thread], so it would be more effective to just start a new thread about putting an ea81 or ea82 (not specified) sender on an EJ. June 12, 201510 yr Perhaps I will start a new thread. I posted here because the fittings to add a remote aftermarket sender to an EJ is pretty common, but I want a sender compatible with my Brat's gauge. I have the gallery plug and fittings to put the EA sender in a remote location except a fitting to fit the sender itself. I believe the OP is still active so I thought I'd give it a shot. When the forum migrated a lot of links went extinct.
