Note this is the same as my ASbaru thread.

Thought id post up my plans and progress of my L series offroader.

To start with i have a L series Sedan with some goodies on it including 5 stud conversion., ej22 and 3" lift kit.

I also have a L series wagon with a ea82T and rear disc brakes.

My plans are to swap the 5 std gear from the sedan into the wagz and 4 stud from wagz to sedan. Then sell the sedan, and put a 6" lift under the wagon, EJ20TT it and put some 31" muddiez under it.

This weekend johnny (bluesteel) came up to help me with the swaperoo.

Started off well.

I already had the wagon up on stands and some rear drive line off.

Saturday we got the rest of the gear off the wagon, and took everything out from the sedan and did the swap. (Thanx Johnny)

Anyway. here are some progress pics. (including the ultimate disaster picsfrown.giffrown.gif)

LOL thats all ill say

Then i decided to do something VERY stupid. I took the sedan for a quick spin too see how we did.. We didnt bleed the brakes, which i knew needed to be done, but i couldn't wait. So i took it out of the drive way and went around the corner, came back up the driveway, and completley forgot about the brakes.... Had a brain freeze and drone into my wagon which was still on the jack stands.... Knocked it off the stand and did some damage to the under body.. I can tell you i wasn'f happy at all. Not to mention i felt like and absolute ****wit. So here are some pics of the damage.

Had Will and Daniel come over to help with the TT strip down..

Didn't get too far, but it was still fun to work on it.

i live a good hour away from my parents house where the cut lives, so this weekend just gone was the first time i saw it with my own eyes, and wont be able to see it again till the 16th.. Which on that weekend i will be updating this topic again. Hopefully with the engine and acc out of the cutwink.gif

And to make it more of an eventful weekend. On the way to the shed. A horrible vibration suddenly came noticeable and i had to stop..

After a quick look i found thisfrown.gif

sedan.JPG

To make it worse, the weather was not going to play nice and didn't stop raining.

Quick measure and a quicker trip to supercheap, got a bolt, nut and some lock tight and soon was off againsmile.gif

Woha! that's a lot of picies!!

So whats the TT like vs a single turbo when it comes to minimum RPM boosting? Should be a fair bit better offroad then a single turbo.

You always need to do the important things first eh?

Looking good so far. Decided on what box to use yet?

hehehe. can never have too many pics;)

From what ive heard, the first trbo on the TT setup kicks in at around 1500RPM, compared to the single turbo which comes in around 3500RPM.

One would think TT offroad would have its advantages..

For a onroad setup id have to say a single turbo setup would be better.

As for the box, i will try a AWD Lib manual box with dual range and l series low in a 4.11 ratio.

If things dont hold up i spose i will have to go to the 4.44 VTD box. I hope i dont have to, but i can see it happening:P

Cheers

Ok fellas. Time for another update..

Finally got the engine out of the frame and all of the accessories off the cut.

Very happy with what we got done.. I'd like to thank Daniel, Mic, Will and Josh for their patience in helping me out. Muchly appreciated fellas.

This was the first time i've pulled an engine out. Was quite fun.

Next week ill do another update when the engine arrives at my house.

Looks like i may have to go with the auto box after another re-think about it all.

Nuff blabbering for now.. Here are a couple of pics..

Hey guys,

Just another quick update. Had some mates come down to my place this weekend with my lovely assets.

Thanks to Will for towing it down to me, muchly appreciated mate

Got a comfortable amount done this time, Got the 82T ot of the wagz, and cleaned a few things up.

Here are some pics of this weekends progress.

Have to get a second scallop in the 82T cross member, should be happening in the next couple of weeks. Not sure if the current scallop will be deep enough. Might have to investigate into it a bit more. Anyone be able to shed some light?

Anyways. Here are a couple of new pics. Hope you enjoy.

Woah, so I'm guessing the up-pipe splits into 2 to feed both turbos. Then both turbos feed the same intake manifold?? I've never seen the TT engine actually out of the chassis. I never knew they were on both sides of the engine.

Ya some of those parts off of that tt ej20h are kind of different compared to the rest. I have an intake, heads and intercooler off of one of those and they are kind of cool to compare to the single turbo counterparts.

I can't wait to see that car with the ej20h in there!

Ok Guys. Time for another update i spose.

Haven t done too much. Just a bit of tinkering over the last day or two.

I have managed to install the rear lift. Wasn't much of a hassle, bit of a effort fitting a diff by ya self and jacking a car up so high with no real support. Wsa a bit unstable a few times along the way, but managed to have a "setup" in case the car fell (again) would fall as faricon_wink.gif Safety firsticon_smile.gif

This is the first time i have fitted a lift kit before, so was enjoyable to do, and i have also learn't some ways to speed things up in the future.

My plans this week was to have a setup so that the car is a little more stable than in its previous state, so i decided to install the rear setup and stick some tires on.

Here are some pics of the lift and some stock lib tyres. 25"??

Anyway too much talking and not enough pics.. or other way around? anywho. Enjoy
