off road tires that fit in stock wheel wells?

Featured Replies

i have 15 inch pug split spoke wheels. i want off road tires on them but im not willing to cut my precious fenders. what is the max diameter that i could run? i saw some silverstone rally tires. they looked like they were lower profile. anyway any help would be greatly appreciate. oh also i have a 3 to 4 inch lift.

just food for thought. the lower the profile tire, the higher the possiblity of rim damage. are you running pug steel wheels? cause the aluminum ones fracture then break after contact with hard surfaces. been there and broke that.

right on. all good info so far. i guess i need to start lookin for some new rims unless i can find the right sneakers. i have some sweet 15in pugs that iv always wanted for my rx. now i have to get rid of them. i really like the 13in gold eknies. anybody got a nice set.

If you want the 13"s for your lifted rig then you won't have many tire choices in an all terrain. 13" is mostly just small snows and all seasons.

I got some of the biggest I could find on my wagon. I believe they measure about 22.5" tall. with the weight of the car sitting on them.

it's not that you can't run the 15's, just be wise about how you wheel with them and get the tires large enough to have a several inches of cushion to the rim. don't air down a ton, and be aware of anything you might hit the rim on.

do you have any pics of your ride? that thing looks awesome.

Hey ivantruckman, what brand tires are those in the 2nd pic?

with a 3-4" lift you should be able to fit 26-27" tires.go with 14" rim for max rim protection.

I changed the tires on my 87 Wagon. I went from 13" Soobie steels to 14" Nissan steels. The old tires were 22" tall and the new tires are 25" tall. They are 195/75/14's. I did not cut any fenders but, I am running street tires. I am thinking when I put new tires on it of going to 205/75/14's, and then I might have to trim the fenders.

Ok, so I searched the off-road setion for info on tires for 14" wheels but came up short for my question..

Heres my question, I'm getting 14" steelie pugs and want to get a good aggressive A/T tire. I was looking at BFG All-Terrains but they don't list them in 14s (I've seen those tires in 14" on the AUSubaru board) so I dunno.. But does anyone know of any tires with a aggressive bite in 205/75R14s? Working with non lifted EA82 (Don't want to cut, very little if at all)

Thanks ahead of time,

-Tom :)

they sell the bfg in a 27 but not a 14

Yep thats what I've noticed, but I've seen a few pictures at the AUSubaru board of BFG All-Terrains in 14" sizes... Would a tire company make the same tire model in more sizes for another country?

So anyone else know of good tires for 14"? I'm looking at 26" aka 205/75/R14

I called a local place who sells them. They want 119.00 a tire. Yikes, for that you could just buy a set of swampers and be a true baller.

Don't be so scared to cut the fenders, you can do it and still have the car look nice.

Markus, those are cool tires. Thanks for the link..

Zap, yea I dunno why I'm hesitant on cutting? I guess I'm afraid I'll make it look like crap, umm What tools are best for doing such a job? Can't tell me ya just go to town with a set of metal sheres Lol. btw your hatch looks awsome, you must have a 2" on it huh?

CF, Thanks for the link too!

I just don't know why they don't make more A/T tires in 14" in like 26".. ok heres one more question, I was told that 205/75/R14s (26")would clear without rubbing, so what are the odds that 27" would clear with a little cutting?

use a cut off wheel with a air system, its will cut cleaner then most other tools especially a sawzall and zap has a 4inch lift on his hatch.

Scooby, yea was thinking an air cut-off tool (My dad Has all that type of stuff) Its my first time with doing something like this an just didn't want to start hacking Lol.. btw oh thats a 4" lift! maybe it looks lower cause it has 15s.

Sweet82, LMAO! Yep those fit :P

ITM, ok thanks. umm if your talking about the rear spring adjusters, the Loyales don't have those (Can't rise/lower rear strut length like you can with GLs) but I get where ur coming from. Thanks again :)
