December 28, 200322 yr Depends. The very 1st Subaru wasnt a car, it was a Rabbit. 2 wheel scooter made by FHI. The 1st car was made by FHI and it was named the P1, but then code named the Subaru. At which Subaru was born and started producing 360's, ff1's etc.... -Brian
December 28, 200322 yr Lots of the older subes around. Jason runs a '76 wagon at RallyCross and there are lots of '80 wagons still on the road. I think Austin's blue wagon is an '80 also. Longest running (i.e. highest mileage) that I'm aware of belongs to your boss at Smart Service. His white Legacy must be pushing 400K by now.
December 28, 200322 yr First one into the US was the 360. Oldest one I've seen in person would probably have to be a 75 or 76 4WD wagon.... Seen pictures of just about everything else...... including a Japanese '80 or '81 "1600 GFT-5" coupe..... weird. And a Subaru outboard boat motor (here in the states somewhere - it even ran!). GD
December 29, 200322 yr http://www.subaru-global.com/about/history/1954-001.html car http://www.subaru-global.com/about/history/1946-001.html#subhead-001 scooter saves you searching
December 29, 200322 yr I have seen a 360 sedan (taste of subaru) and a pickup (that was over at the Hood River County Fairgrounds and was owned by the county)
December 29, 200322 yr This would be the oldest Subaru vehicle http://www.ne.jp/asahi/airplane/museum/nakajima/naka-cont-e.html FHI was 'reconstructed' from Nakajima by the allies after WWII
December 29, 200322 yr I would have to agree with the P-1 for first Subaru passenger car. I'm also thinking I have one of the oldest, if not the oldest, Soob on the board. It's a '62 360, brought over by a serviceman coming from Japan. The difference between it, and the US market versions, are that this one has the turn signal to the left of the wheel, the hood and engne-compartment release cables on the driver's side, and a 16-horse engine (as opposed to a 25-horse US spec).
