I need something stout [think wildlife], not too heavy and something good to mount lights on. Give me some ideas.

Not an EA82, but still something to think about.........

 

 

6" C channel with 3/4"/2" tube right into the sub frame!!! 7500lb winch where the radiator used to be. Rubber bumpers are the same ones for the back of semi trailers. Way under $100 including D-rings, bumpers and light guards. Oh yeah, factory lights from the old stock bumper. Later, Tim

Those are my 27" ATV tires, which currently reside on my Hatchback that I am building. They were too small for the Beast, as i have already cut the fenders on it for 31" tires. They were on a mud racing Brat, and were pretty unstoppable. Ill get to see just how capable they are once I finish up the hatch.

Yea dude, i have those same tires on my artic cat! They work very well, they dig a mean whole in snow tho( Reversing the tread direction helps alot)

I prolly wont get to test them out until spring when I get the hatch running and a windsheild in it, they were just too small for the Beast, but they are perfect on the hatch. I need to make some spacers though, they rub a bit on the drivers side rear trailing arm and front strut, but not too bad.

I snagged this picture on line and had to chop out the guy's url. If you enter "Golf Country Bull Bar" in Google images, you'll get there.

 

He says it weighs 20 pounds! And I like the skid plate that goes on it too. I could use something like this on my Justy, without the headlight guards.

Well... me Too! ... but I do Believe that your Subie will Need some Tires Upgrade to do That...

I dont know.. Those tires are firestone destination at's and they rock in the snow and everywhere else I've taken them. i run them on my crusty old rangerover too and they have never failed me. I've got a friend with a ford ranger and he runs the bfg at's and he slips where the firestones stick. Anyway, I would probably chalk my wheels if I was to winch somebody out of a snow drift, or snug my bumper up against something solid and take my traction out of the situation. Not to say I wouldn't love having mud terrains on there, but I cant seem to wear these firestones out. 30k miles on the rover and they still look new.

 

Anyway me winching a hummer with the brat is just a fun dream. That winch will probably be used to recover myself, and if nothing else I love the way it looks on the brat and generates lots of comments.

Looks like we did the same thing with stock lights. Unfortunately, unless you tie off to a tree or something, your winch is just going to pull you into the Hummer :lol:.

Thanks alot. That is her good side! There is a nice ding on the rear corner of the other side from some superfreak lady driving around on morphine:mad: Oh well at least her hit and run attempt failed and her insurance paid me handsomely.

 

Sorry for all the landrover chat on the subie site! I do the opposite often on the landrover forums too(although I spend much more time here:))

 

Not to be picky at all, but just fyi the rig is a 1962 series 2a. I've got the full tropical safari top too, just haven't got it looking as good as the rest of the rig yet.

not ea82 but you could do it! harbor freight tubing bender and 2, 8 foot sticks of schedule 40 pipe :banana: btw make sure you measure a few times... i had to section it 3 inches in the middle!

Here's mine its made of alloy so its light.It is also strong i've hit things with it,it hasn;t moved same can't be said for what i've hit.

 

unfortunately bull bars are unheard of in the land of the free

they have mozzie swatters, light mounts, push bars(not sure what you would push with them)

i'm not sure if i can get one in my luggage next time i go home but failing that i will have too make one myself......probably be too heavy then - but it'll be tuff:banana:
