I found this application guide on Corbeau's website. Will any of these Subaru models' brackets work on my '85 Brat?

I asked a similar question in the NABISCO forum a while ago, and the answer was that I should modify my stock brackets. I don't have a welder, and I almost lit myself on fire with an angle grinder, so I'd prefer to just shell out the $30 for a bracket.

you most likely dont need brackets. We put EA82 seats in my old brat and iirc all we had to do was add a piece of flat stock to each side and drill some holes. So if they fit a subaru they will work with min. fabrication

Well, the thing is, I know the quality of my work, and it's unacceptable for something as important as a seat bracket:-) Some of theirs are $30 each, which I think is more than fair.

You might be able to get one of the EA82 brackets they make and mod them to fit your car, but I don't see any on their list that would bolt in.

 

Ask them if Sparco seats mount to their brackets without mods. I've got one but like you, don't trust my fabrication skills, or those of my friends for that matter, to keep me safe in the accident I'll inevitably get into.

Can anyone provide insight on this? My Brat is technically an '85 GL 2-door...

That's neither here nor there.

'85 Gen 2 "2 door" bracket will be the same as yours,

and a '85 Gen 3 "2 door" bracket will need to be modified.

 

Still leaves you in the same predicament.

I sent Corbeau some dimensions from my Brat. Here's what I got back:

 

"The D736T and D737T brackets match those dims. These brackets are special order which means once ordered and paid, it will take 4-6 weeks to ship. If you would like to order, give us a call at 801-255-3737 and ask for sales."

 

In addition to these brackets taking 4-6 weeks to ship, they also retail for $95 each. I wish I could weld:-\

Same here. Did you ever find out if Sparco seats will mount to those Corbeau mounts? Are the mounts sliders, or fixed?

You never answered my question on the Sparcos, so I wasn't sure what to ask. The mounts in question are sliders.

Sorry, I have no idea if Sparco makes anything for cars older than about 15-20 years old. I should ask them, maybe tonight when I get home from campus, but I really doubt they will have anything.

LOL maybe you shouldnt be working on cars then. If u look at the chincy metal subaru uses on their seat rails, the metal you would be adding and modifying is thicker and stronger.

 

Seats dont mean chit anyways. seat belts are what you should be worried about. Subaru seat backs snap and lay flat anyways in 90% of collisions

I was thinking that same thing when I replaced all rotors and pads this weekend:-) Maybe I'll try to find someone willing to weld stuff for free out here.

theres no need to weld anything on the seats. All you should have to do is drill a few holes and use Grade 10 bolts to bolt the stuff together. I've had modded seats in my wagon for 4 years now, never had a bolt come lose, and I've hit stuff hard enough to break the seat back lock.
