June 12, 200916 yr Im working on my factory wheels so i put 2 of my newly aquired pugs on the back. The 1st thing i noticedis that it handles like a go kart. Which is what i wanted. But they stick out so darn far from the wheelwells the visual aspect sucks. tire size is 195-60-14. I like the size wheels the loyale put on his wagon but im not liftin. Whats a guy to do.
June 12, 200916 yr What pugs did you get? I had a set of the 14" alloys on an EA81, and they sat flush with the fender, so I'd imagine they stick out about 1/2" to 3/4" on an EA82.
June 12, 200916 yr There may be differen't offsets for pug rims out there. I would ask someone at a tire/wheel place or on a pug forum or something. GD
June 13, 200916 yr Author Ok soooome thing interesting. I go to check out my pugs and i realize why im not likeing them. The pug on the driverside sticks out further then the one on the passanger side. Upon further inspection i see that there are 2 different brake drums on the car. Very strange indeed. Its only tempory until i get the 2 stock ones painted up and put back on. And ive got a set of discs to install on the back so that will get rid of the drum problem. Ill figure it out eventually.

Yeah, my 14" alloy pugs on my EA81 look very sharp, and don't stick out. And they almost fit with no lift (195/70R14's I think). If only it had an engine..... I've got a '90 Legacy parked next to it now... parts car for the EJ swap.
June 14, 200916 yr Author Not sure exactly whats going on here. Ill finish up other wheels and get those rear disc brakes on. I think this is why i couldnt get the center cap on the passanger side rear wheel mick. The brake drum is different then the one on the driverside. It sticks out more.
June 14, 200916 yr IMO... best solution for the problem. Convert to rear disks You will never regret it!
June 16, 200916 yr Author You mean these. As soon as i get brave enough there getting put on. I want to finish up my last 2 wheels first.
June 16, 200916 yr Subaru never made these cars on a jig. So there are differences from side to side, car to car. My old Brat's front left wheel stuck out about 15mm more then the right front. My 83 sedan's rear end which came from an 84 wagon had massive un-adjustable toe out on its right, and slight toe out on the left. And yes, I check for damage on the assembly and it was perfect. After I modified it to have same toe in on each side the right side sticks out almost 20mm more then the left. They just aren't welded straight to start with. The reason you see this now is there is something close by the tire to compare it with. Before with the stupidly inset wheels you couldn't see it. I'd suggest the use of some small rubber flares.
