I hate doing clutch cables. I've been tempted to stick in an ea82 pedal rack just for the easier clutch cable jobs, which I seem to do every year or two...

Bit of a side question. For the operation of the A.C. fan the relay is shorted to ground? All the thermo switch does is short the relay to ground? Electronics aren't my thing. Thanks :]

The screwdriver just jumps out and I was going to try to nudge it with a gasket scraper, but I stopped for now. Eyesight, lenses and lighting, now the heat, it'll take a while...

Hello thanks for reading! I have a 07 Outback with an ej25 that has bad crank bearings. I picked the car up for 300 bucks and want to get it going. I found a avls sohc non turbo jdm that u want to put in it. Anyone have any tips or suggestions? I’ve searched the web but haven’t had much luck. The car is in beautiful shape for the age and mileage, would like to see it running instead of going to scrap. Thanks again!

You wouldn’t happen to have a link to the tailgate glass replacement rubber seal? If someone made the rear fixed glass rubber seals for the MY wagons I reckon they’d make a killing. I’d definitely take one for each side, maybe two if another project comes through. Cheers Bennie

Well they aren't upgraded like I was hoping to get, but rockauto has sachi struts under 86 GL 1.8 OHV. Only right hand, but the spring cup isn't offset, so it should fit both sides. I've ordered two while we conduct further research into aftermarket alternatives.

Yes, L-Series I was referring to any of the Leones/Loyales/DL/GL, etc. I didn't know the wagon shared suspension components. It makes sense. One thing you could try, and it's helped me track down parts before, is searching for what you want on eBay and changing what model nomenclature you use. For instance try "Subaru Brat Strut", then "Subaru L-Series strut", then "Subaru Leone strut", then "Subaru Reone strut" (not a typo, on Japanese sites, they call it a Reone, my guess is this is for linguistic differences). You or anyone searching may get lucky. These vehicles were known as so many things that depending on where the listing is from, the regional model names may differ while referencing the same model. :]

@SuspiciousPizza I'm not sure about an L series, as I'm not sure what you're refering to. If you mean a loyale, then no it won't fit a BRAT. The BRAT along with the Leone Sedan, wagon, and hardtop all shared the same suspension mounting through the 80s as far as I know. Even the XT (minus the XT6 which was different thanks to its 5 bolt hubs and the three bolt top hat of the XT4) had the same suspension mounting style as the Leone line. This stems from the BRAT not actually being its own thing, but rather being built off the 4WD Leone wagon, and sharing its underpinnings.

Forgive my ignorance, I'm not yet fortunate enough to own a BRAT. Are the BRAT struts different from the L-Series struts? I know there were a few different mounting styles throughout the years. With the BRAT being it's own standalone body style I could see there being different mounting requirements. But from a financial perspective, why would Subaru use a different strut? It's easier to make cheaper cars when they all share parts. Thanks :]

I've been looking at 80s era Citroen struts, as apparently the air struts in the XT were sourced from Citroen. Knowing that the XT and other Subaru's of the 80s shared the same suspension mounting style (minus the three bolt top mount on the XT) I think some Citroen struts may be a good lead to check out as well.

No, they do not. And haven't for a while, so the supply of old stock has dried up. And lots of us need struts...

I added a RS front bumper with minimal work needed. I do need to see about adding the top filter strip by the grill. Also need to fix sides for another attachment. Not cutting the fenders. Need to add rear bumper cover from an Impreza... Had anyone dinner anything similar? Front has the factory reinforcement from the 99 RS..

I just used a 3m cavity spray yesterday on the inside of my quarter panels. I bought tube assembly from Amazon or eBay with 360° first pattern.. Worked good and filled wheel well areas with one can.

Do they not make struts any longer? I see the upper mounts are available on eBay. I have a nice set with fairly new struts

I’ve had good luck with Redline 75w90 NS. Shifts are fairly smooth, only time it feels notchy is when shifting into first while the car is rolling. I read that the synchros in the 5MT don’t like limited slip additives, so the NS doesn’t have them. I run Redline 75w90 with the additives in the rear differential.

Really sorry I can’t recall the guy. I’ll look around in my stuff. I bought a set of various bits in a lot. I got black but pretty sure he had other colors and a close enough blue and tan. So yes, there’s at least one guy. But pardon my forgetfulness at this time. It’ll come to me. I’m old now.

Anyone 3D printing these yet for a reasonable price as well? I need a left and a right for an '84 in tan. Fronts are sun cooked and rears have survived so far.

My opinion. Go big and get it done right. Make a post on FB and here and anywhere with gen two people. You’ve got a contact at PRP so that’s good. When we did ours (twice) they said pretty much the same thing. The mold might be gone, etc, and they do come from Thailand where the rubber is plentiful in production. You’ll end up with at least a couple or so for free. You’re not going to send each one out with payment to the penny. You’ll cover a little for your expenses. Tape, gathering boxes or envelopes, gas, time… you’d be a fool to not cover yourself, right? They will come. At least enough to cover the order or cover enough that you’re comfortable retaining a larger number but knowing you’ll have a steady market over the coming years. Those you’ll charge a little more for too. If you take this route I would be SURE you know if PRP will also be stocking these. If so, how many? Think it out and play the ball accordingly. If they’re going to stock 100 then you’d probably rethink keeping a large number for the future. Otherwise what happened to the Route66 Motors guy who had them on eBay ? Here in the USA And there was or still is Phil’s in Australia The shipping issue is a tough one. I also don’t like shipping over seas. Good luck. I’m not in that group anymore so I won’t kicking in on the deal. But we did it twice. With batches of 50. And I handled it. Everyone was happy.

I am a new member here and thought I would give an update on what I've found out about PRP. I called and talked to them several times about the possibility of making new gaskets. They said that the company that used to make them for them has gone out of business in the US and they would have to work outside the country to get them made. They said that I would have to commit to a full run (at least 200) and pay for the tooling workup. It was going to be way too cost prohibitive. Autoglasswarehouse in Brisbane has some seals but will not ship internationally, I asked them several times. You can have a company pick them up and ship them, but the quote I got was $160. I may buy 5-10 gaskets and have them shipped to try to bring the price down a bit if others are interested. The windshield gasket alone is about $120. LMK if anyone has an interest.
