  1. If it flashed 16 times on startup it indicates the transmission control unit has stored a fault code. CEL will be triggered with a P0700 (transmission CEL request). Probably unrelated to the work but they likely did welding on the vehicle and depending on where they attached their ground it could cause issues. If this is an older car then it's likely there may be issues with one or more of the transmission solenoids. If welding current happened to pass though a solenoid coil it could easily burn it out. New OEM cat's don't smell after startup. That's cheap cat that the factory didn't pre-heat to cure the epoxy material that holds the matrix into the pipe. Having the vehicle do this curing is questionable since the added vibration and exhaust pressure of the engine running without the matrix fixed in position and the epoxy fully cured can be problematic. High quality cats are heated after manufacture to cure them and drive off all the volatiles you are smelling. We regularly install factory Subaru converters and also COBB catted high-flow downpipe's and we haven't had a single complaint or experience with any "smells" GD

  2. Does the shudder ONLY occur when the clutch is being slipped? I was thinking some issue of a shot driveshaft/half shaft that works the centre diff that’s shot. But that doesn’t work out as the centre diff would be under most load when going hard in this situation. Plus you’ll hear the typical knocking when doing a U turn in either direction. So that’s out. Other thought if it’s occurring when slipping is that the pressure plate is warped or the flywheel is full of heat stress cracks/wasn’t shaved properly. Last out there thought is your flywheel is loose, but this usually results quickly in other issues, like the flywheel parting company with everything else and exiting out the bell housing in whatever direction it feels like... Ok, last last one! Got any codes? Maybe you have a partial misfire or some issue where a cylinder is down on power at low throttle but makes up for it at full throttle for some reason. Or you have fuel pressure issues... Cheers Bennie

  3. Ask for one for a 1992 legacy or 1994 impreza - those shouldn't have any additional gaskets to confuse someone reading a computer screen. And all 1990-1998 legacy/impreza 2.2 and 1.8 valve cover gaskets are the same. The guy doesn't know anything about Subarus and is just clicking a screen and reading it to you. There's only one gasket it can be, this one, which as you can see is listed for all 1990-1998 ej22 and ej18: https://www.subaruparts.com/oem-parts/subaru-valve-cover-gasket-13294aa012

  4. Well my ECM is good, everything is good actually! I found my fusible wire link corroded and hanging on by a single wire in the fuse block by the battery. And so I fixed it and BAM! He runs very well. I returned the ECM I bought too. Everything I tested proved the ECM was the culprit. Interestingly enough I measured voltage at both sides of that fusable link with my meter. However it wouldn't illuminate my test light. Anyways Yay! On to other Subaru things.

  5. FWD auto, 4WD Auto, 4WD manual available here. Some of them from there were part of subaruxt forums so I know of them from there. Have you ever seen one in person or know any of the owners? I get Aus and NZ owners confused but I think Dima was in NZ. I shipped him some parts 20 years ago. Lol
