  1. Looks pretty rust free! What have you got planned for your new rig? Kurt
  2. My 2003 Baja is a black color that is called Onyx Black. In the sunlight, it has red metalic specks! It is a factory color, btw. Kurt
  3. How does Saturday, May 20th sound to everyone? Should we start a new thread? Thanks, Kurt
  4. What if a guy had a car with an ea82t and a shot auto trans. And said guy would like to put ea82t in a 85 Brat, but he would like a dual range 5 speed? Would "guy" need to find a 5 speed specifically from a ea82t? Do the shafts swap from the auto to the manual trans? Any other pointers for this "guy"?! Thanks, Kurt
  5. Is anyone up for either of these weekends? Kurt
  6. I am right in the middle of not only moving to Owatonna, but also getting ready to take my EMT registration test! So this month is shot for me, but Saturday May 6 or Saturday May 20th would work great! Kurt
  7. Well, Morgan isnt on the board anymore, but I'm sure that if we got another bbq goin, he would come! I would like to get something going in mid to late May. Maybe a little grilling, and a little interurban off roading! Who's up for it? Kurt
  8. Boo for salt! That was a beutiful wagon, and i will now give a moment of silence in it's honor........, That being said, do you have any plans for the push bar? :-p kurt
  9. Something that I have come across on a couple of Brats is that the fuel tank gets corroded and rusty. Chunks of rust and sedement plug the fuel line that draws fuel out of the tank. On my old 86, I tried 2 sets of filters and a diffrent pump, and a carb rebuild, to no avail. But when I swaped tanks, it cured the problem! The only hard part is finding good tanks that arent already rusted! Kurt
  10. I had an uncle that drove half-tracks in World War 2, and thats what he always told me. They taught the drivers that trick in their schooling! Kurt
  11. I just replaced to govenor gear on my 86 GL10. I bought it last October, but I havent benn able to drive it until last weekend. I love that thing! It drives so nice, and the interior is nice, comfortable and queit. Mine is grey with a grey interior. It is push button four wheel drive with the turbo motor. It has some surface rust, but I would like to fix it and keep it. Also, when the front lip of the foam spoiler gets wet, it bubbels up! Is that normal? Kurt
  12. Mine is black over silver. There are pictures of the Baja in my photo album on this site. Check em out! Kurt
  13. Hello everybody! My neigbor just bought a 2003 Forester. He has had it since Saturday, and he just noticed that none of the bulbs on the left rear light work. I just sold him some repalcement bulbs to try, but since all of them dont light, I suspect it's something more. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Thanks for any input, Kurt
  14. So I was home tonight, and I happend to look out one of the windows to see a car shining it's headlights on our house. My first thought was that someone had pulled into our driveway. But the car seemed to be at the wrong angle for our driveway. So I went to the front door to investigate. I slipped on my work boots and went outside, only to see one of my co-worker's Toyota Solara sitting up on my nighbors lawn, stuck in the snow! Joe, my high school aged co-worker, and his friend were working hard on trying to push it out of a drift. "Joe, do you need me to pull you out?" I asked him. "That would be great!" he replied. So I got the Baja out of the garage, and backed up to him. We were in the process of hooking up a tow strap when a full sized Ford pick up drove by. He stoped to ask if we needed help. I am sure that he was thinking that there would be no way this little Subaru can get that car out! So I proceded to pull ahead and pick up the slack in the rope. With this accomplished, I slowly accelerated until I had broke the Toyota out of it's snow drift hug.:-p The Ford, which had been waiting to spring into action in the event of a Subaru forefit, drove away, and the kids thanked me and shook my hand. Man, I just love this car! We had been thinking about selling it, because money is a little tight and it would be nice not to have the payments, but I am so pleased with it I am trying hard to find a way to keep it. Like I have said before, the only thing I could'nt do with the Baja, that I could with my Dakota, is pull a dual axle car trailer! Anyways, I hope everyone gets as much of a kick out of this as I did! Kurt
  15. Samo, I am jelous of your decal collection! As for reverse lights, I would love to build a tube rear bumper for my Brat next summer and incorporate some lights into it. I will keep everyone updated! Kurt
  16. I run with mine on all the time, because the switch is soooo far away on the dash, I cant seem to find enough energy to turn it off!:-p Seriously, I mostly like the looks, but I suppose if a person used them less, the bulbs would last longer! Kurt
  17. Just a quick question from a newbie: Is Fe just an engine designation like Ea or Ej? Or was it a package on the car itself? Thanks, Kurt
  18. What kind and how much of a lift are you running on your Brat? I think those fender flairs look great! Where did you find them? Also, I dig the "teeth" on the front of your rig! Kurt
  19. Even if you do go the Toyota route, dont be a stranger around here! Besides, Toyota's are like Subarus well-meaining cousin! Kurt
  20. Boy, thats too bad it had to happen to a wagon wheel, because, you know, those are really hard to find!:-p Seriously, though, the main thing is that noone got hurt! Kurt
  21. I used wire mesh that is designed to keep leaves out of house gutters. I trimmed it to fit inside of the tin ring that surronds the lights. I got the idea from Eyesore! Take a peek! Kurt http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=7904&sort=1&cat=738&page=1
  22. Usually, there is a 2 pins wrapped in cellophane in the same package as the wipers. One size works for Subys, and the other size is a mystery! Anyways, I know that Trico makes "exact fit" wiper blades which already have the pin installed. They are avalable for purchase at Carquest and Napa! Kurt
