  1. I get all my oem stuff from Subiegal. http://www.subarugenuineparts.com I think my plug wires were something like $30 and came within a week.
  2. nasioc classifieds. There are usually a few 6-speeds for sale at any one time. Also there are detailed write ups and lists of all the stuff you'll need there. Do you plan to also swap the R180 and brembos?
  3. yeah, I'm working on a new lighting/electrical setup. Upgraded headlight wiring with relays, room for a second set of FF1000 driving lights, and possibly some fog lights to go in my new turbo bumper. With my supertones that will make for 6 relays. I intend to build a relay/fuse box for all this stuff and place it behind the pass headlight, and run a big wire straight to it from the alternator.
  4. Porcupine's diagram will work perfectly, however have you considered getting another switch? I would leave them separate so I could switch the fogs with the parking light in order to have them on without the headlights.
  5. Aha! that's why my seat doesn't move forward and back very smoothly. Also you should note that the 02-03 seats (which I have), sit lower than 04-06 seats. Even with the height adjustment all the way down my seat is about an inch higher and I couldn't find an easy way to swap or modify the rails to lower them. If I were shorter it wouldn't be a problem but as it is I plan to find something lower. The added bolstering is worth it though, especially the way I drive.
  6. Definitely pull the codes and replace the o2 sensor if it's missing. I had a bad knock sensor and the car would hesitate and stumble, and the CEL wasn't on.
  7. I have these also and am happy with them. I've had them pretty near their MOT of 932F and they bite even better with heat. They're much less than comparable performance pads, the most similar one being the HAWK HP+ They did turn my wheels black within a month but it doesn't bother me.
  8. I have a set of RS calipers and brackets sitting in storage. I was going to put them on my car but decided to go the next step bigger, then a friend was going to put them on his rally car but that ended up not happening. They're missing a few bolts, the rear slide pins, and clips and shims, but if you want to save some money on used parts you can have them cheap. It'd also put you partway towards a rear disc conversion if you have drums.
  9. what are you trying to do, put on new pads and rotors or replace it all with something bigger? The 99 Impreza has two different front brake setups, and only two. 276mm rotors with 2-pots on the RS, and 1-pots with 260mm rotors on everything else, regardless of wheel size. Also, while the RS came with 16" wheels, the brakes will fit under 15s.
  10. no, by non-turbo/-gt/-outback, I mean non-turbo, non-gt, non-outback. And probably non LSi, and some 96-99 OBs might also have smaller discs. My nasioc version of that thread is slighty updated and I plan to replace the one here shortly.
  11. correct. The change occurred on the front and rear of rs and wrx imprezas sometime in 02-03, and not even at the same time for both models. Reason probably being that they still had brackets left at the factory and used them until they ran out.
  12. Caliper is the same. There was a caliper bracket and pad change, although it doesn't correspond exactly to model year and the only way to tell the difference is to actually look at the pads. http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/faq_wrxcalipers.shtml
  13. Ford and Citroen have both been doing better than subaru in WRC the last few years, and Ford won the manufacturer's title last year btw.
  14. that was a full year ago. What's funny is he rolled it again in the same stadium last weekend. Here's a Colin Mcrae video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_wmDGcsjSU
  15. You have 1-piston front brakes with 260x24mm rotors. The rotors you received were most likely for the RS, which has 2-pots and 276mm rotors.
  16. source please. In many conditions they can be better because eyes can see things illuminated with a more yellowish light more clearly. Daniel Stern has a very in-depth article on the subject here: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/lights/light_color/light_color.html
  17. I would use an STI 2.5 and 6-speed if my budget allowed, and swap the whole drivetrain/dash/ecu/brakes etc into a GC. I figure it will cost $12k or so to do it myself. 300hp without touching a thing on the motor. This: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=79 along with the other technical forums on nasioc, will give you a good idea of what people are using and what kind of numbers they're getting. There are a lot more people over there building fast soobs. I think you're severely underestimating the cost to have a hobby track car, especially one with 300hp. Come back when you have all that cash burning a hole in your pocket. Until then, if you want to window shop: Crawford i-speed world one racecomp engineering oakos etc... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=23
  18. yes, but it will result in a slightly lower compression ratio, so combined with the lower displacement the power loss would be pretty noticeable. The only thing you need to do is use 2.5 headgaskets.
  19. Is there something wrong with the stock system? The stock filter flows more than enough air for the motor, and while aftermarket ones such as K&N do flow more air, they also let more dirt into the motor. They also draw cool air from the fender. There are some cheap ebay piping systems that should work with the stock air box, which could be worth trying.
