E10 Torx socket in Minneapolis Area
bheinen74 replied to vica153's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
even with the correct 1/4 craftsman torx 10, one of my stub bolts some of the head broke off, with the shoulder and some of the head still remaining. Had to drill it out, that was non fun lots of time wasted to do so. -
Stoplamp/tailamp bulb replacements old vs new: Older Subaru's , burned out rear bulb used to be easy, just open the trunk or rear cargo, pull up the flap or remove the rear backing, twist socket, pull out burned out bulb, put in new bulb twist into place, lower flap or place cover done. time about 1 minute 06 Outback, open rear hatch, remove 2 plastic button screws on the access cover, then about 5 minutes to figure out how to twist/contort the cover shield including cracking it slightly. Go find 10mm socket (not carrying tools in the car but should from now on) remove 2 10mm bolts holding the whole lense assembly to car. carefully slide the lense assembly off the body tabs. Twist and remove bulb holder, replace bulb. Twist back into place. Slide tail light housing back into place, fasten with 2 10mm bolts. Twist and contort the cover shield into place, 2 plastic screw fasteners to hold into place. about 15-20 minutes to change a #7443 bulb. can't wait to do headlight bulb upgrade. Old car, about 3 minutes. This car, the intake housing has to be removed. oh well. Just need to accept what used to take a short time is gonna take a long time. Lunch break services might not happen anymore.

somebody put big huge 60" tires on a loyale wagon without any lift. The video was on youtube, they basically welded extensions onto the hubs, then slapped the tractor tires on and drove it til they bent and broke the hubs, shocks. So to answer your question, someone can post the video and show you the largest without a lift

well, I know may way around Subaru's pretty well. And, on a 99 OBW without heated seats, w/o heated mirrors, there is NO plug harness on the door for the mirrors. There is a tweeter plug onl. I took apart the door and wiring harness of the door, NO PLUG for the heated mirror. I Do know that, and others have reported the same, for MY99

paraffin wax. basically candle wax, melted, poured over the area, scrape excess off, repour, it seals it up a little at a time, and the extra is easy to scrape off. it is water proof and will work. it is also used for canning veggies and jellies. put in small metal can, boil in water on stove, pour over edge of window. -
that was a BRAT i had, that the driver front tire, looking at it from under the door.

if the blocks were done right, it will look like \ / at first, but if you roll the car back and forth some, it will settle nicely. All the lifted rigs seem to have this and take some time to settle down at first. anytime you jack the car up and then down, it will again look like \ / but will settle and will not have a problem. It will get to | | but you need to let it settle, roll to relieve the pressures.

I bought a 06 Outback on October 4, it arrived on November3 , title got here Nov12 and registered it nov12. Sold the 83 GL wagon Nov 3 sold my 92 SS nov 13 Disable the daytime running lights, disabled the guage sweep on day 2. Put the all weather mats in the Outback, and ordered an aluminum lightweight roof basket for it. Deciding if I want to put some Hella 500's on it or not. Fixed the burned out shift indicator bulb on the console with a spare 93 leg instrument cluster bulb. looked at my SVX in the garage.

WRONG -for a 99 at least. The 99 OBW is NOT prewired on the door for heated mirrors, but it is pre-wired for Tweeters. On my brothers outback, he bought a set of heated mirrors and switch at the junkyard for 25 bucks. Pulled off the door panels to install, found what we thought was the black plug connector, but turns out that black plug is for the optional tweeter. There was no white plug for the heated mirrors. NONE had to take the mirrors back to junkyard and still have that credit to use. I think I read on a site they stopped in the year 98 for having that, so your 96 might have it, but the 99 does not. Don't flame on someone in Florida who wants heated mirrors. Read the post rules. If he wants heated mirrors, let him have them

each dealer will have their own policy rules, in how they handle a claim, what they cover, what they dont cover. best to visit with them in much detail and ask lots of questions and find out what they cover. they should have documentation, read the fine print, that is the policy. Don't just take the word on it, read what is printed, and documented. If it is not on the document, then they are not going to cover it, thats how it works. Unless you have then write additional coverages, signed by the agent. Denver is a "Mecca" of Subarus. you should have no problem locating a plethera of cars, dealers, and also good prices, although the snow season is upon us and that means they fetch a premium now. spring and summer in Denver, the AWD cars are cheaper, in winter everyone wants AWD so the premium is to be paid. I did live there for 8+ years. Thats my 2 bits Good luck Don't forget Craigslist, Burt Subaru, and of course, the one down in the springs famous for the cheapest Subarus, you can get a Brand new one there for less than a used one. that place is http://www.heubergermotors.com/index.htm worth the time to look at what they have, and check new prices vs used. You may be able to get into a new one for price of a 08 would be.
