  1. Does anyone know who makes the oem waterpump/ or what is a good water pump for a replacement?? Anyone know for certain what years had the plastic oil seperators instead of the metal ones.
  2. Glad it worked out for ya. Did u turn off your car after you sucked in the seafoam for a lil while. You should suck it in (car will smoke) but then turn it off for about 5 minutes, restart it and rev/drive around. Make sure this is done on a hot engine
  3. Right now my biggest concern is getting a clutch/fixing oil seals, and Tires. Then underbody armor, extending the rear diff breather (still don't know what to do), fan switch, sealing the coil with a lexan type box. maybe not in this order, cause again I am broke.
  4. Take off the plastic trim around the radio/cd player/heat controls/etc.. Unscrew the cd deck. Pull out. unclip harness. Do a search on "climate control lights" and you will find detailed directions with pictures, but its super easy.
  5. Body shops suck. Aligning a door as previously mentioned is a PIA and does require a lot of patience. I tried adjusting my old jetta door, and 7/8 of the time it came out worse than it originally started as. The latch and the striker might not line up well, and cause the door not to shut all the way, or at all. You might have to lift the door to get it off/on the striker. Top and bottom lines might not line up. Windows might not line up... Etc, etc, etc....... This is why I didn't even mention fixing it yourself.
  6. Manrius, you mentioned "...how long you drive the tank to..." What does that have to do with the buildup of carbon in the engine. Not knocking you, just curious as I would have never thought that would have anyhting to do with it.
  7. Forgot to mention that I needed to cut the hole in my fender to about 4.5" in order for the flashing to fit.
  8. 6 hours after I got my first car I said this: Then 3 seconds later I cracked my block..............but I hit a tree.
  9. Didn't you have a whole bunch of body work done just recently. IIRC, you did, and I would take it back to the shop and have them fix it.
  10. It doesn't eat seals. Thats left for the polar bears. It does clean all the crap off the inside of the engine, which is most likely sealing your seals from leaking.
  11. working on a lift tho...... The boot is a rubber roof flashing.
  12. stuck the pipe in the hole and bolted it down. no pics, will get some over the weekend tho So you guys just love to hate the newer guys, huh? Sorry I don't have a ea w/ a 4" lift some super swampers and a welded diff. I gotta stick with low overal cost and reliability so I can be a student. I am just trying to add some character and cheap insurance for when I do make it to the big mud holes.
  13. ha, ive gotten ************ about it not being used before. I need a new clutch before I do anything. I am lucky to get from point a - b now. so give it time, o yea i need new tires too. My logic: do the cheap stuff first
  14. Donaldson "Top spin" Pre-filter. Link in pdf format: http://www.donaldson.com/en/engine/support/datalibrary/000207.pdf I didn't want to worry about doing a dual inlet setup. This keeps the rain, bugs, and hopefully snow, out of the pipe.
  15. yea that makes sense. i was just focused on profile w/o taking into consideration of the width. They do look sweet
  16. With work, ordering wrong parts, waiting for parts, school, recieving wrong parts, and rain, the snorkel is now complete. Pics:
  17. did u notice a diff. in the comfort of ride, going to a smaller profile. I guess its still a decent size profile, so it wouldn't be drastic change. My question still stands tho.
  18. you shouold be able to buy/make the weather stripping to replace/fit. If i am understanding this correctly. A pic might help.
  19. Don't vw's have full size spares. I know they did in the last gen models. You could always buy a roof mounted basket and throw the full size up there. There is some discussion about this on subaruoutback.org right now
  20. Why not a electric impact wrench from harbor frieght for like $50. Not a cordless, but an actuall corded wrench. I have used one before doing a suspension swap on a 1985 jetta(read 20 yrs old, at the time). Got the car rolling in about a hour. I did soak the bolts a day prior, but still, a hour - thats damn good. I have also used a cordless snap on, but for that money you should just get a compressor.
  21. My illumination fuse blows when I have my lights on and open the glove compartment. Anyone have any ideas. I could do w/o someone saying a short somewhere. Why would the glove compartment light have a short neways
