  1. burning clutches have a pretty distinct awful smell. my '05 and '96 legacys have a coolant type smell when you walk past the front of the car. '96 has a very minor occasional drip of oil on the hot exhaust that burns.
  2. Make sure your spark plugs are still tight. Pour the seafoam through the pvc instead of brake booster. Maybe you have a bad plug/wire. I know they are new, but **** happens.
  3. The tranny doesn't have its own computer, it uses the tcu/ecu/ecm whatever you want to call it. This is the main "brain" of the car and controls everything ELECTRONICAL. If the manual tranny was electronic, why would you have to use your left foot and right hand to make it work? The electronical devices would do it for you. Stop reading for a second, clear your mind.....heres an awful analogy - If a 5 ball pendulm was electronic you would just have to flip a switch to turn it on. You have a model that isn't; you have to raise the ball yourself. Both of these are mass produced, so they use the same base. All you have is a block, strings, balls. The block/base is universal, having a spot for batteries and a switch. If you put batteries in your model and flip the switch, nothing happens. Its purely mechanical.
  4. If was younger and had a 2.5T AWD I would beat the hell out of it. When I was 18ish I was doing ebrake slides and burnouts w/ mom's grand am gt. No turbo, no awd, no stick-shift, just a gas pedal and a handle e-brake. Yea, this was on dry pavement.
  5. I am really almost certain, there is no possible way to make the computer, on a manual car, RWD. The center diff is mechanical, and your tranny is mechanical. There is nothing electric about it, except the sensors and whatnot. Again, I do not believe you can even make it FWD.
  6. How can the jumper work on manual trannys. A manual tranny is mechanicaly controlled, how can a electric device overide it. A auto tranny is electronically controlled hence the reason the electrical jumper can override the center diif/clutch pack I really don't think the jumper works on your manual car. I know on mine I dont even have a place for the fuse to go in.
  7. yes yellowing on the outside. Has anyone done a search...there is tons of info on this.
  8. Dude that does suck that the interir is that bad so early. I had a 2000 GTP and when it was 2yrs old my driver seat started to crack, it was pleather though. I would rather get my grandma to sew a seat back together then have to buy a new tranny. Think of it that way, you'll be much happier
  9. You can just put a hair dryer to it, to dry it out. Then seal it up using either a silicone sealant or some plastic window stuff that hobbiest use on model cars.
  10. There is no "jumper" on manual trannys. There is so much you can do with the AWD. I wouldn't give up the AWD for anything.
  11. Yea I guess you're right. I still don't like the idea of having diff. fluid in an auto tranny though. Are you sure this isn't just a cleaning process, and should be flushed out in a couple K miles. From what I read (quickly) it cleans out the gummy stuff. Which I would imagine means, don't run for a long time. I have a manual tranny, I usually dont pay attention to this auto stuff.
  12. No, the diff does not get fluid from your auto tranny. How could a diff run off ATF. That makes no sense. If your poured the diff fluid in the tranny you just ************ed someone really bad. Now not only is the center diff screwed, but you messed up the tranny itself.
  13. I thought the diff and trans were seperate in autos. Hence, if you put something in the tranny, you aren't effecting the diff.
  14. you can wax and then clear coat then wax the clear coat, wash wax sand clear wash wax poodle clear wash wax lights are good clear wax sand wash sand wash clear wax
  15. You definately have to remove them. I did the same thing, except I didn't like the plastX. I used a walmart wax, "Kit" is the brand, and its called "scratch remover". The clear coat never worked out good for me so after 3 attempts I said screw it.
  16. same here. I need to make a friend who is a machinist to fab me up a body lift.
  17. Yes i am talking about new gens compared to older gens (outbacks). My question is why not do what subaru did to the new gens - to our old gens. Raise it 2" w/ scorpion springs then 1" with subarus technique, and you know have close to 10.5" of clearance
  18. Half doors and super swampers = a badass obs Looks great man
  19. Exactly as the title states: how did they increase the gound clearance by 1.1" on the new gen outbacks??
  20. Oh, neat. I want illuminated heat switches . I just always assumed they didn't light up. I need to fix them now.
