Broken Nose 56k Beware
fnlyfnd replied to keltik's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThat turn (from what can be seen) should be easy at 68mph. Manarius, for you to say you shouldn't go around any turn at 70mph is absurd. Yes, keltik, you are the driver, but if you're to think a tire blew out than there should be no reason to place the entire blame on you. Over corrected, under corrected, etc... You live and learn, but to think a tire blew out cleary shows that something went terribly wrong that wasn't under your control. I sent u a pm - gotta question for you.

Broken Nose 56k Beware
fnlyfnd replied to keltik's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI willing to bet that both wheel assembleys in the ditch are ****ed, The hubs/steeering knuckles, suspension, suspension mounts, cross member, sways, endlinks, etc.... I wont go into detail, I'll let keltik devulge the info if he wants to. And the fact that he said "the car is terminal" - I took that to mean it's totaled. What else would it mean? If I work for an insurance agency why are you telling me how air bags work. From just looking at the front clip, it seems that they would deploy from entering the ditch.

fnlyfnd replied to keltik's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXthe cars is totaled, so actually you should try to figre out why the air bags didn't deploy and are unfortunate, although air bags hurt, they're much softer than a steering wheel. Good to see ur alright.

Engine Block Heaters
fnlyfnd replied to Richard1296's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe best way is, to set it up on a timer (one the can withstand the amount of energy), so it turns on a couple hours before you leave in the morning/night/whenever.

Engine Block Heaters
fnlyfnd replied to Richard1296's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIve got a factory one on my '96 obw. I like it, car is blowing warm heat in about a minute. Its a coolant type (I think all factory ones are), so the oil will still be cold, well prolly a lil warmer than usual, but the heater simply circulates the coolant. Nothing to do with the oil.

fnlyfnd replied to fnlyfnd's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDyno oil wont cut it in these winter months....matter of fact its not cutting it. I don't believe their are differences in the us and euro versions. Sure the euro version is "TDL" and USA is reg. gear oil...

It died in the water
sweet thanks for the direct answer. Sealing up the little area where the water can still pass by the snorkel very soon. So I changed the diff and motor oil and they seem to be fine. Do you guys think I am in trouble??

It died in the water
So I went driving on a not road surface today. It got pretty crazy in some parts, narrow, rutted, deeper ruts, high centering but going to fast to be stoped, turn after turn, mud, etc..... Well I came to a spot where the water was prolly up to the top of the bumper so I floored it. I was close enough to not get a whole bunch of momentum, actually I prolly didnt even gain any momentum by the time I dove in. The car died, full gas and it just stopped. No revs, no spinning, just a sudden drop in rpm. I thought it stalled, but it didn't. After a few seconds I threw it back into first and proceded to get out. So what do you guys think?? Oh, another thing...when I got back to the road I floored it, it was going good then it was a sudden jerk - loss of power....so what gives?? This only happens when wet, I noticed this after once before when I went through a deep puddle (on road).
